Just win and switch Tulo with Martin in the batting order.

If we tie it up tomorrow, I feel like the only good chance Cleveland has to move on would be if Kluber starts two more games (4 and 7...if it goes that far) this series.

They took one game in a 7 game series, playing at home. I'm not worried (yet). Just win.

Let's hope that the September Jays aren't back. Because they could make even a scrub like Tomlin look like an ace. Because of an off day on Sunday, I bet Francona will be using Miller for 2 innings again if he needs to. It's really important that we get as big a lead as possible off Tomlin.

Pretty close to a must win. Lose and we gotta win 4 out of 5 remaining games in the series. Really disappointed in the way the Jay's lost tonight. It was the KC ALCS of last year all over again. Repeated chances to score runs with absolutely nothing to show for them. Got in arguments a couple days ago about this teams inability to get across a run in critical situations without totally dismissing we are a power team.
We need some diversity and not this all or nothing approach. K's in high leverage spots are on the verge of costing us two possible World Championships. The teams that win in recent history have managers and batters that adjust.

We have to manufacture runs...If the big hits aren't coming we need to bunt, advance, steal and put more pressure on the pitchers and hopefully tax their bullpen.

Prepare for the wrath of people who think that to ask this team to do anything but mash is unacceptable negativity and not just trying to figure out more than one way to win.

I still think we can and will win this series (don't think this Cleveland team is as good as KC was last year) just discouraged and upset that that we lost in the same manner we did to them last year.
On to tomorrow's 7-3 win!

While I agree with the overall sentiment that we should do whatever possible to cash runners in, I just think it's a lot harder than it sounds to ask established sluggers like JD, Bautista, EE or Tulo to alter their approach. These guys aren't used to hitting for soft contact or bunting, and trying to force them to do so could put them in a situation where they end up screwing up with runners on base. You want a hitter to go up to the plate playing to his strength, not to his weakness. It would be like asking a guy like Carrera or Pillar to go to the plate and try to hit homers. Not every hitter in the lineup is suited to do everything. It's true that our lineup tilts a bit too much towards hard-swinging slugger type of hitters, but we can't attempt to fix that by asking those sluggers to change their approach.

Hopefully Gibbons can wake up and finally put Tulo at the 5 spot instead of Martin. At this point I would even put Saunders ahead.

Striking out doesn't mean you are trying to hit a home run. Go back and actually watch the ABs we had last night with RISP. Kluber gets ahead in all the counts with his slider or 2-seamer and is able to finally finish them all off.
He was getting ahead all night but we had 6 base hits with 2 strikes on us. If that's not evidence of guys "changing their approach" then I don't know what else you want. That was the most hits with 2 strikes he's given up in a start in years.
We just couldn't find that big hit when we needed it because he continued to get ahead. His 2-seamer was filthy and as the strike zone expanded it got more difficult to deal with.
I like you and think you're a good poster but you're being superficial with your analysis in this case. We didn't get shut out because we didn't play small ball or change our approach. We got shut down by a great pitcher who made key pitches to two of our coldest hitters in 4 different situations. And outside of the 3rd we didn't really do much of anything. But there wasn't one time I thought "wow look at those home run cuts".
And on the opposite side the Indians got two baserunners in scoring position. They won on a walk and changeup someone finally sat on. It's not like they were manufacturing runs in any way they could. A couple of Crisp bunts was the extent of it. They got their big hit and ultimately outpitched us as incredible as that sounds in spite of Estrada's stellar performance.
Sometimes you tip your cap to the opposing team. Last night was one of them.
