Sanchez joins the Boras club!!!

Post#1 » by North_of_Border » Thu Jan 5, 2017 6:33 pm

Sportsnet.ca

Aaron Sanchez’s move to the Boras Corporation, first reported Tuesday by Sportsnet’s Hazel Mae, was viewed by some in the industry as a power move because Scott Boras has a reputation as an aggressive, outspoken agent who typically encourages clients to test free agency.

Sanchez's progession is the kind of production that eventually gets pitchers paid, though for one more year Sanchez will earn close to the MLB minimum salary. He’ll then be first-time arbitration eligible after 2017 and remain on track to hit free agency four seasons from now, after the 2020 campaign.

---------------------------------------------

He is a FA in 4 years. I think it's quite clear he will be gone in 3 years. Rogers is not gonna give him 200 million, something Boras will try for. If he reaches his potential of course.

Sad day in Jays history. Should locked him up on a team friendly long term deal. Too bad. Days are numbered now.

Thoughts?

Meh. If he performs like he's capable of for the next 4 years, he's gonna get paid either way. Doesnt matter who his agent is.

Most other agents with clients like Sanchez. Young and explosive stars. Would try to get a good deal done with their parent team about 2 to 3 years before free agency. Like Mike Trout did. It's the safe thing to do. Even the best stars could implode and lose big time..... not many do the Bryce Harper thing. He is taking a risk for big reward approach.

Scott Boras on the other hand, advises his clients to test Free Agency. He will take the highest bid on the open market. I think that takes the Jays out of it before it even begins.

Sanchez will weigh 300 pounds when he's 29.

This would make a good article for The Beaverton.

MLB player agent Scott Boras joined Prime Time Sports to discuss his newly formed relationship with Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez and how his notorious rep as being a tough negotiator doesn't automatically mean that Sanchez is destined to depart the franchise.
