Probably one of my fave players on the team, it's so disappointing that the injuries are getting in his way. Keep rooting for him.

Likely Barney at 2B... If Donaldson is DHing then Goins to 2B and Barney to 3B.

Lawrie might be interest but i dont like his defense at 2B. If Pearce was ready i would play him at 2B... perhaps sign Lawrie as the new Pearce to share 1B with Smoak. Lawrie is good backup at 3B.

Some type of bone bruise that is also being called a fracture or sometimes they are both the same thing. In this case a fracture of some sort seems more appropriate.

Oh FFS. I really want to see what this guy is capable of over a full season. Looks like I won't get that chance this year.

Sign Lawrie or Pagan, and have Pearce play 2nd short-term.

He opted to not take a surgery for it after exiting early in the ALDS... (Or last game of season against Boston) I can see this being one of those things that will require surgery and he had the chance to take it this off season but neglected it- and now he's probably going to do surgery later on in the season when we need him.

Still a bit early to write Travis off as some kind of major injury magnet. For all intents and purposes, he has had two substantial injuries in the bigs, and one was a bone malformation rather than any injury that began presenting as a problem and eventually necessitated surgery. He was healthy for all of last year after recovering from that, until he hurt his knee in the playoffs.

That is what he did for the shoulder 2 seasons ago, electing for surgery. Last october they said he'd likely need a knee scope and their was cartilage caught in his knee joint. Wonder what makes them decide to have surgery for Martin but not Travis this time if that is what happened.

He has a bone bruise. I don't think surgery is an option for that, it's just something that has to heal on its own. And he did have surgery to scope the knee in November, but the bone bruise that is keeping him out is a separate issue.

Thought it was a bone bruise last season that ended up being damaged further by playing on it but that sounds much better if separate.

Well, whatever the issue is, I really hope we can get at least 100-120 games out of Travis. The thought of Barney/Goins playing full-time really scares me. Especially when we're already carrying holes in the lineup because of 1B and LF. Without Travis playing, Gibby would also likely stick Pillar in the leadoff spot (which is even more scary than seeing Barney/Goins play lol).
