Just while we're still here on Game 1, I'd like to officially declare that the sky is falling, the season is over and Morales is the worst signing in Blue Jays history.

Same old garbage as last year, offense stranding billions of runners which in time comes back to bite them...oh well..

Throw a power hitter a hanger like that and that's what happens. Offense lost us this game.

Unfortunately, I expect a lot of games like this for the Jays, nice starting pitching not enough to offset an offence that peaked in 2015

We signed Vernon Wells to a 15 year 3 billion dollar contract. If Morales stinks it's a minor mistake.

Ah, feels great to get our first one-run loss out of the way early though.

Brutal offensive display from Bautista. Good to see some defense from him though.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Indeed. Popouts and Strikeouts with runners in scoring position will be our specialty. That and GIDP's.

Let's be fair though, we had 11 hits and 6 walks. 17 baserunners is plenty good enough to generate a decent run total in most games. Just lacked that one big hit.

And to be fair, we were saying that all of last year. This team has MAJOR problems getting that "one big hit" . Didn't we lead the league in runners left on base last year? This team needs a new hitting coach badly. Its been one game and im already seeing all the disgusting old habits from last year rearing their ugly heads. These guys just have no feel for the flow of the game, no feel for when to shorten up their swings and try using the whole field. All we got is a bunch of pull happy free swingers who see the Homerun as the ONLY way to bring home runners.

I don't think a hitting coach is a problem, it's not like some of our better hitters - Bautista, Donaldson come to mind – can't go opposite field, going with the pitch with men on base. They just don't do it often enough.
