Well, it could have been a grand slam.

Bonus points for another one run loss.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Our lineup in general looks horrific to start this year. Five games in and we have:

Pearce - 3 for 15 with 0 HR 0 RBI 2 Strikeouts
Travis - 3 for 16 with 0 HR 1 RBI 4 strikeouts
Bautista - 2 for 17 with 0 HR 1 RBI 7 strikeouts
Morales - 4 for 18 with 1 HR 6 RBI 4 Strikeouts
Tulo - 2 for 19 with 1 HR 4 RBI 4 Strikeouts
Martin - 0 for 10 with 0 HR 0 RBI 3 Strikeouts

Combined: .112 AVG 2 HR 12 RBI 24 Strikeouts in 125 at bats from 2/3rds of our Lineup.

Only Donaldson, Pillar and surprisingly Smoak have looked halfway decent.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

By a guy making his major league debut because you had to set the entire bullpen on fire the night before. It's peak April Jays.

The problem with peak April is that they all count. You don't want to dig too deep of a hole for yourself. This team inspiring confidence in me right now

I knew this was coming when I saw the schedule had us start on the road against the O's and Rays. Two teams filled with more winneryness than the rest of the American League combined.

Need a healthy Osuna back asap so everyone in the pen can slide down a rung on the ladder. Hopefully Estrada can get us the split and we can come home with 2-4 record.

Tampa is only winnery against the Jays. They suck against all others.

Howell has gone on the DL with a potentially significant shoulder issue. And he has had shoulder surgery in 2010. So that makes Aaron Loup the only lefty in the pen. There is no lefty at BUF or NH except maybe Chad Girado, who is not on the 40 man roster currently, who can step in. This could become a significant sore spot, no pun intended.

Shatkins should have gone out there and grabbed some quality arms for the bullpen!

Like dagger said, this will be a sore spot the entire season if it's not addressed.

If Howell's injury is serious, any chance we move Liriano to the bullpen as a middle reliever, and slot someone else in the starting rotation?

The problem is that aside from Biagini, there isn't really a good candidate for that fifth starter, not in the bullpen now or in Buffalo.

Not that preseason matters, but the Jays were very bad in spring training and while many were off at the WBC, historically, bad spring training has sometimes hinted at bad starts to Jays seasons...

JD!

Not a bad start. Let's hope we can actually hold the lead this time.

Not sure if you guys know this, but if you're going to get a hit with 2 outs, you'd prefer to get an extra base hit.
