by Dan2087
Location: Busch Stadium in St.Louis
Game 1
Tuesday April 25: 8:15pm Eastern time
RHP Marco Estrada (0-1, 2.63 ERA) vs. RHP Michael Wacha (2-1, 2.41 ERA)
Never faced Wacha before
Game 2
Wednesday April 26: 8:15 Eastern time
RHP Mat Latos (0-0, 7.20 ERA) vs. RHP Carlos Martinez (0-3, 4.76 ERA)
Martinez has never started against us
Game 3
Thursday April 27: 1:45pm Eastern Time
RHP Casey Lawrence (0-2, 7.56 ERA) vs. RHP Adam Wainwright (1-3, 6.27 ERA)
Last pitched against us in 2010 when he allowed 6 hits and 4 runs over 4 innings. Hopefully our current high octane offense can replicate this result.
I don't know what the protocol is on game threads following a split but I'm sick of losing - enough is enough.
I feel like it was just yesterday that we had to watch Mat Latos and Casey Lawrence start games for us, but here we are - both make starts in this series. We are 4-6 in our last 10 and they are 6-4.
It seems like their offense is pretty bad - not much better than ours so there's some hope (they are 24th, 23rd and 21st in Runs, Avg and OBP respectively. We are 29th, 25th, and 25th). Their pitching has performed almost identical to ours as well.
Let's win a series and get this thing turned around.

A split is the best we have so far. I think the general trend was, win the series, keep the streak going.

Well we can't split this one

Our pitchers hitting should be entertaining.

Who knows, they might put some pressure on the position players. Estrada in LF, anyone?

After starting the year with bad hitting stats the Jays have shown improvement particularly over the last 7 days without Donaldson and Tulo.
Team Stats Season
BA - 25th
OBP - 25th
SLG- 28th
OPS - 28th
The slugging and OPS have actually jumped quite abit more than team standings would let you think. We were near the bottom in OPS by like .50 points. Over the last 7 days only the Brewers and Cubs have hit more home runs than us.(okay we are tied with a few teams also). But we're tied for 3rd in homeruns over the last 7 days!
Team Stats last 7 days
BA- 14th
OBP- 15th
SLG-15th
OPS-14th
Team showing improvement but that lineup tonight is extremely bad. Travis needing a day off and Coughlan not starting against a RHP indicates hes bad at 3rd base or benched for not being able to bunt? might see a few bunts tonight from the Cards with Russell and Morales on the corners.

5-14 record looks uuugly...
even if we were to sweep this series, (and we won't) we'd be at 8-14.. still uglyyyyyy...
I've watched the Jays for more than 20 years and I don't recall a start to a season like this one.
I think when everything is said and done, we will finish at .500 for this season. no playoffs and some of our vets traded for prospects. the rebuild will have started.

Just sweep the goddamn Cardinals if it's the last great thing you do.

But they play the right way. Real gritty franchise.

I mean, it was a certainty we'd blow the lead, but holy ****, what a play by Chris Coghlan. That has to be a top 3 home plate play in MLB history.

Assuming we're out of it, Smith seems like he might get us something nice at the deadline.

We went to extras 13 times last season. 14 the year before. Something tells me we're heading for extras for the 5th time in April.
