On the positive side- there will be plenty of great seats available in the summer, for fans wanting to see solid baseball played by the opposing teams. Looking forward to the 2018 Draft.

The Jays sold 2.5 million tickets for this season. People might not use them, but they will still do okay at the gate. TV ratings will fall.

Best of both worlds: buy cheap tickets, sit in expensive (and paid for) seats!

The Skydome might not be packed anymore for many RS games, but during the "bad years" (which is basically every Jays year since 1993 excepting the last 2) they still did decent during the summer. Many families taking their kids to the game don't necessarily care whether the team is good or not. Taking in Jays games during the summer is largely considered a family past time, especially when school is out.

I, for one, am not unhappy that the Jays are sucking. I would have liked a winning team, but the treadmill .500 team we had for many seasons was hard to take. At least there will be no illusions about rebuilding. Some US media have been saying Rogers wouldn't want to rebuild, and I believe that, so that's why a team this bad forces management's hand. As things stand, of all the injured players, only Sanchez seems close. Donaldson and Tulo just left to Dunedin to keep rehabbing there, so they sound as if they are two weeks or so away.

Bonus: Even Shillner will have to admit to what has to be done.

Six games behind at the end of April can also mean 30 games under at the end of the season.

Standing in the surf and yelling at the tide to turn has a bad historical success rate.

Also, while we're a mere six games out of the playoffs, we're also the only team in baseball that is six games out of the playoffs.

To be honest, I'm afraid that the tide will turn a bit and they get back to within a game or two of .500 a month from now and then no moves are made because hey, we're "getting it together now."

i get the impression that Shapiro and Atkins have had their finger poised above the button from the moment they took over. If we're within a game or two of .500 at the end of May (and even that would be a Herculean effort) they aren't likely to go nuts.

I hope that when we blow it up, Shillner is one of the people we trade away. Dude is awful. He's deluding the casuals into thinking that this is just a blip and we're still a contender. Completely ignoring the downward trend that this team started on last year and is continuing this season. The casuals will believe Shillner and then hate on Shapiro for gutting the team when he starts the inevitable rebuild. If the media starts selling the idea of a possible rebuild, maybe the fans would lower their expectations and put less pressure on Shapiro, which would make it easier for him to take his time with a proper rebuild. The Leafs media finally realized this. They backed off and let the Leafs management tank in peace. As a result, the majority of fans embraced the process as well. I hope the Jays media can do the same thing.
