When Ryan Schimpf signed with the Padres as a minor league FA, came up at 28 and hit like a star, it was clear that the universe wishes us nothing but pain.

Justin Smoak has officially mastered hitting. A bloop single on a bases loaded AB. Last year that would've been like, his worst nightmare.

Oh, and before Schad says it, Smoak is our offense.
