The battle for .500: Average Team @ Average Team, June 23-25

Post#1 » by s e n s i » Fri Jun 23, 2017 5:05 pm

split on the road means i get to make another one, amirite?

neither jays nor royals have been over .500 at any point this season. that could all change here in this intense showdown between these now average 2015 ALCS teams. or it could absolutely not, somehow. let's find out.

J.A Happ vs. Jake Junis - Today @ 8:05pm
Marco Estrada vs. Jason Vargas - Saturday, June 24 @ 2:15pm
Frankie Liriano vs. Jason Hammel - Sunday, June 25 @ 2:15pm

also, any visit to kauffman is a good time to relive one of the clutchest (by WPA) jacks in franchise history

The beauty of this thread title is that it could be reused for roughly 90% of AL matchups this season.

If the Jays win 2 out of 3 in this series (and at least one of the first two games), neither team will be over .500 by the series' conclusion, and if the Jays win Games 1 and 3 but lose Game 2, neither team even gets to .500. The possibilities have me in goosebumps just thinking about it.

I don't know how any Jays fan can not like Bautista.

We've resorted to Ian Parmley in left. By my calculations, I'll get my chance in left by August.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

At this rate, one of us will be in left, and the other will be in centre replacing Pillar.

So, just checking the box score, it seems as if we finally have a starter pitching like expected, and Dwight Smith is a thing. And this new lineup isn't bad

What's up with Donaldson? Is he injured? Doesn't look like himself.

Pretty frustrating watching Donaldson tonight, a couple awful at bats with runners on 1st and 2nd

This last one was especially bad, gets up 2-0 and then watches two fastballs go right down the middle before waiving at a pitch two feet out of the strike zone

It's so annoying that the worst hitter in baseball destroyed us in the ALCS.
