Refsnyder has put up better numbers at a higher level than McBroom, addresses a position of need at 2B, and is only one year older than McBroom. Seems like a decent trade.

As bad as Goins and Barney are, I wouldn't want this team to waste resources on acquiring an established MLB 2B like Odor. It's rather pointless, and there's still hope Travis will eventually get healthy and own the position for half a decade. Refsnyder is cheap and should be better than Goins/Barney.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I'm not sure he's better than Goins/Barney, which is the problem. While the sample size is small, his defense at 2B has been pretty awful, and he's the slappiest of slap hitters.

I will concede that it does suggest that we aren't going to trade for a major league 2B though, which is a real positive.

Well, Gurriel could be the answer, and Travis is beginning to work out, though you won't see him back for another month or so.

That's our seventh loss by six runs or more in July (five of those of the 10+ variety). We have zero wins of that magnitude.

Six-game homestand coming up with all the air out of the balloon, and I'm really curious whether attendance falls off a cliff. It's been quite a while since we've played an early-week home series against a non-divisional opponent...late May, actually, and the Monday game against the Reds was one of our lowest attendance figures on the year. If we're suddenly looking at a less than half-full Dome, Rogers might either going to panic and demand that Shapiro/Atkins do something silly, or panic and sanction some trades to wind down our salary commitments.

Also, JaysRule: now is time for your particular skills as the anti-BLC threadmaker.

I'm sure attendance will be on the light side, but they had such a massive pre-sale over the winter that it might not bite that badly. TV ratings are another matter.

Looking like a banner day for Tank Watch, if nothing else. We're now tied for sixth-worst with Oakland, and if the Padres hold their sizable lead against the Giants, we will pull within a game of fifth. Probably not catching the top three, but Cincy at four (3 up currently) might be in range.

Terrible time for Happ and Estrada to **** the bed so hard. 1-2 good starts might have been enough to get a meager return. I guess we can look forward to them turning into Cy Young form as soon as the trade deadline passes and lower our draft pick in the process.

I often fantasize about these cash consideration transactions occurring in a dark abandoned parking lot. A bound and blindfolded Tepesch is dragged out of the trunk of a beat up Cadillac, then some Jays associates in suits hand over a briefcase full of cash to the Twins henchmen.

Does it make the fantasy better or worse if the Jays' associates instead hand over a single crisp American $1 bill? Because there's a very good chance that's all we actually gave up for him.

The Jay fitteds are disappearing all over town. I wonder if they're donating them to Goodwill

In this scenario I hope Tepesch is forced to see the $1 bill in the briefcase so he knows just how little his life is valued.
