It should be. I know Estrada's had a bad run but he always seems to come out of them eventually. He has been pretty damn consistent in his time here and a major league club would be foolish not to try to get him from the Jays at the discounted price he'd be at now.

A fan of the team but rooting for them to lose?

Indeed, those things are not mutually exclusive. Being a Jays fan, I want the Jays to be good. Wins don't help us at all right now. Losses don't help us much, but they help us more than wins. So cheering for losses it is.

I think winning until the trade deadline would be useful though, right? Especially as it concerns the value of some of the players the Jays are negotiating about.

What if today's game improved the value of a Estrada / Morales dump off?

I don't see the point in cheering for losses until at least the deadline.

Yeah, I definitely wasn't cheering for Estrada to implode, heh. The ideal game is one where we get 15 hits, with conveniently timed GIDPs, and lose 4-3 when whoever is serving as our 7th inning guy of the week gets tagged for a couple.

As for Morales, it'd take a heck of a lot more than a few games to get someone to take the money remaining on his deal, unfortunately. Bat-only DH types aren't in vogue at the moment, never mind those that aren't hitting. He probably needs to mash for a full calendar year to be able to move for anything, and to extract a bit of value likely would still require that we eat some of his money.

I had a feeling they we're going to win that game, but smashing 2 bombs in a row in the 9th wasn't how I envisioned it.

On Morales, I know he'd been pretty bad this year but did not realize he was below replacement level(currently -0.3 WAR). That's not very good.
That's what she said.

Hopefully Estrada's value went up a notch. Darvish's certainly went down.

I'm fine with Morales and what we are paying him. His production this year has been pretty good.

I'm all for getting younger and better, but I'm not for losing games and tanking this season. If we were to trade a player, we better get someone back who is younger and can play now in the majors, and the team has control over the next several years.

We could be looking at a 4 game winning streak today!

White Sox next. This could be interesting...

I haven't been particularly impressed with him and he also seems to be on the decline. 0.1 WAR which is in the bottom half of AL DH's. Better value than Bautista, but this guy can't field, can't run, leads the league in GDP and hasn't even been able to protect Smoak. A lot of teams have been throwing Smoak garbage lately because they feel they are better off walking him.

Oh boy. This was semi-defensible prior to the season but he's only confirmed that he is exactly what most of us feared; a league-average hitter that brings absolutely nothing else to the table. But... he bats left-handed!

Huh. This may be a first. Insane tank move by the Jays right there to have the skipper, pitcher and catcher ejected in a matter of three pitches.

That was a joke. I could see him tossing one of them (Gibby or Stro) but after that relax a bit. The Martin ejection was absolutely unnecessary, unless he told him his mother drinks warm beer, then i believe it to be founded

Fans have been doing it for years. It's a thing fans do when games become otherwise inconsequential, given that the only productive thing that might come out of this season is a high draft pick (and the large bonus pool that carries with it).
