In other news, Angel Hernandez is still a bad umpire. And kind of an ass.
...and just like that, the Refsnyder era begins.

I see the winneryness hasn't rubbed off of Parker Bridwell yet since his departure from the Orioles.

Smoak has scored 60 runs this season, and has 29 homeruns.
48.3% Smoak's runs come courtesy of Justin Smoak.
He is his offense, as well as our team's, as well as offense itself.

Remarkably, Smoak is becoming a bigger and bigger part of offense as the season continues. He's top 10 in wRC+ in the majors. Top 10 in runs above average. Top 12 in wOBA. Top 20 in fWAR. He might actually end up on someone's MVP ballot and be a defensible pick.
Smoak is....everything.

And Tulo's injury only increases our need to trade him. Jose unmoveable. Martin unmoveable. Tulo, now even more unmoveable.
If we are going to try to stock our cupboards with any younger assets/futures,,, Smoak is literally the only trade piece. And looking to the future is an absolute necessity.

Imagine how bad we would be if he was having a typical Smoak year? Better yet, imagine how good we would have been if we had this version of Smoak in 2015 and 2016?

Thanks for getting us back on track Schad. We can't have a repeat of the Oakland series again this season, that hurt us big time.

And why aren't we trading him? Will we not get any decent or significant for him, he's got like 2 years of control left to. There is no way he keeps this up going forward...
Is it because we don't have any logical 1B options?

Setting aside the bit where we're totally going to try to compete in 2018 and 2019, it's easier to trade positionally limited players like Smoak in the winter. But we won't, but still, that's be the way to do it.
