MLB Waiver Trade Deadline & Discussion - August 31st, 2017
I wanted to separate this discussion if there are any significant or non-significant moves made. Chances are there will be some minor deals to shore teams up.
Question is, do you guys think the jays will be shipping anymore MLB talent between now and end of August, and if so who do you think clears waivers and would be actually traded.
I would put Tulo on waivers and see if a team actually claims him, and if so I"d also be tempted to let him just claimed.

If someone actually claimed Tulo, I think the Jays wouldn't even bother working out a package, unless it's "we'll pay for half his contract".
Estrada I'm sure will go on waivers and get claimed, but any of the guys we have I'm not that optimistic of any deals being worked out.

So Jays put Jose on Trade Waiver, hopefully we can move him:
The Blue Jays have placed right fielder Jose Bautista on revocable trade waivers, reports MLB Network’s Ken Rosenthal (on Twitter).

Usually half the team gets put on revocable waivers. Because if you don't really want to trade them, you can just pull them back.

What's the point of having 2 trade deadlines?
The mlb should have 1 trade deadline in the middle of July, with anyone in the organization, at that time, being eligible for the playoffs.
OT:
Also why doesn't the MLB allow draft pick (except for the 10 or so that they brought in recently) trades.
The MLB shouldn't make teams surrender draft picks for signing a player.

It's time to move on Jose. He should waive his no trade clause and go to a conteder. This will be his last crack at a world series.
If we are going to contend in 2018, we need Happ and Estrada in the rotation. I wouldn't let go, or trade any of them.

I can't really see what use a contender would have for him. He's been hitting .183/.289/.313 since June 1st, and on the season is one of the worst full-time players in the majors. He can't play the OF effectively, so that rules out NL teams unless someone thinks he can catch lightning in a bottle as a pinch-hitter, and he's miles away from being good enough with the bat these past two seasons to hack it as a DH.

**** your asterisk.

Especially when they are better rental options in the market, like Jay Bruce, who's doing everything better than Jose. I don't see it either.
I'd trade Estrada if we can get anything half way decent, and if they want him back, just go out and resign him.

Basically this. My best guess is that Bautista remains a Jay for the rest of the season, possibly with a graceful step back in September in lieu of the children getting playing time before departing the organization with no hard feelings on either side.
I can see Marco and Zeke being moved before the waiver deadline. Pearce and Happ seem more like winter moves if we get to that point and Pearce stays hot through the rest of the year.

Carrera won't clear waivers, which will make it almost impossible to trade him. Estrada also might get claimed. $4M or whatever he's owed isn't that much for a contending team that can also use him in the playoffs. Not sure there are many playoff-bound teams with a poor enough rotation that he'd slot into the top 4, but like Liriano, he has bullpen experience too.

Jay Bruce traded to Indians for a low level A prospect in Indians Organization, who wasn't in their top 30 mlb pipeline prospects. Should give you an idea of what we would get for Jose, if there is even any interest at all.

Anybody traded from this point forward won't bring back any real prospects because they are necessarily going to be overpaid by virtue of clearing waivers. There's only like $4.5M in salary we could possibly cover for Bautista, and if he's worth $2M from here on out (being generous), that means we'd get a prospect worth at most $2.5M, which is as low-level as it gets. Then again, maybe there's a team out there that values Bautista the same way the Astros valued Liriano.

Bruce had a crap track record. But really turned it on this year... Jose has a golden track record. But played like crap this year.... I guess that's the difference.
Maybe someone think Jose will turn it on soon.... but I agree he won't get anything significant. Might as well let him play it out here. Say good bye at the end.

Jays have put Marco Estrada on revocable waivers. There are expectations he will be claimed, provoking new trade talks.

The Jays are in the playoff picture. Maybe hold onto Estrada and then resign him in the offseason on a discount.
Ye they risk losing him for nothing, but normally he is the kind of guy we would be trading for at this time.... trading prospects for a rental. So I'd u have the rite guy already. Even if he is a rental too basically. Though u don't have to trade prospects for him. Then why not hang on to him?..... as long as the playoffs are possible ofcourse

They already said they can trade him AND re-sign him in the off-season. They are not in the playoff picture, not unless you are using a 600 millimetre telephoto lens to see the second wildcard spot.

Does anyone know if Joey Bats cleared waivers, they put him on waivers at like the beginning of the month, and not has been said since. I'm assuming he cleared, no one is going to make a claim on a .220 avg hitter making like 6 mill left for 2 months rental or less, but i haven't read anywhere if cleared.
