ST: A Not-Very-Good Team @ A Very Good Team | August 4-6

Post#1 » by zilby » Thu Aug 3, 2017 8:45 pm

I have a bad record this year too. A series win vs. the White Sox was expected, but the tank will roll on, even if it's dangerous.

Image

Game 1 - Friday, August 4th
First pitch 8:10PM

Cesar Valdez (1-0, 6.59 ERA) vs. Brad Peacock (9-1, 2.62 ERA)

Game 2 - Saturday, August 5th
First pitch 7:10PM

Marco Estrada (4-7, 5.19 ERA) vs. Charlie Morton (9-4, 3.77 ERA)

Game 3 - Sunday, August 6th
First pitch 2:10PM

Marcus Stroman (10-5, 3.19 ERA) vs. Mike Fiers (7-6, 3.97 ERA)

Astros are slumping a bit as of late (4-6 in their last 10), and the Jays have won 7 of their last 10 but did so by winning 6 games against the two worst teams in the AL. The teams split a four-game series earlier in the season, so this series is the rubber match, essentially. We'll see what happens!

If we score 20 tonight, we might - and I stress might - have a chance.

What a joke that Valdez is starting for this team.

“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

In other news we already knew: Dermody sucks, too.

Not that Biagini has been great this year but he's been messed around a bit going back and forth from the pen and starting. But hey, we have to keep the stellar pitching of Valdez and Bolsinger on the roster....

I feel badly for Martin - it's a parade of scrubs out there tonight. Should have had Raffy Lopez start this one - he'd actually be more familiar with all these AAA arms.

We should just save his knees and have him play 2B for the rest of the year. Gets one of Goins/Refsnyder/Barney out of the lineup and maybe Martin's knees hold up long enough to be traded in the last year of his contract.

On a completely unrelated note:

I may have been too optimistic.

This is the way the Bautista-era ends, this is the way the Bautista-era ends, this is the way the Bautista-era ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper.

I know this lineup is hot trash and winning isn't a good thing at this point but Gibbons is a trash manager. Bautista still hitting leadoff when he can't hit the baseball is nonsense.

At this rate he's going to finish below the Mendoza line.

I think we can close the books on the Refsnyder era. He was a flash in the pan that one season in New York.
