Will post the official stuff soon, but just a heads up that today's game starts at 2:15 in the afternoon.

I don't think we're trying to lose, but elements of the team are being remade for next season - notably the bullpen and starting rotation. And I expect more change in September.

Man Smoak doesn't slow down. I like having Pearce in the 4 hole. I'd keep him there ahead of Morales right now.

Maiza struggles and Jays are down 7-4 in the 8th after getting back within 1. Facing a real team again this series is a big test on whether the Jays have any shot at making a run.

They don't. They don't have enough fire power. Against a weak offensive team like Tampa, they can keep up, but against almost everyone else... JD didn't have a hit today and he's been carrying the team of late.

Beating a dead horse.... but yeah too many teams to jump. The Jays have to win and hope that the teams above would lose majority of their games. The chances are still slim... Lets just see what happens in the winter and 2018 of course

Does anyone know why Gibby changed JD to SS, Jose to 3B etc.?

From the game log: he had Carrera pinch hit for Barney in the 7th, and opted to rearrange the defense to maximize the number of players in the game who could more or less hit.

Cubs are a beatable team. They aren't world beaters by any means. Jays just ran into good starting pitching

Ryan Goins: RBI machine is almost as baffling as Justin Smoak: good.

I'd say it's more baffling. Smoak was a very well-regarded prospect, once. It's probably more surprising for Jays fans who watched him flail for a couple years than people who remember that Smoak was supposed to be this.

Goins, on the other hand, has never hit and continues to be a terrible hitter overall. Give the man runners in scoring position, though, and suddenly he's one of the best hitters in baseball. And it's not just that he's slapping singles (though he has a fair count of slapped singles): his iso power with RISP would be top 25 in the majors overall. Coming into today, he struck out 11.1% of the time with RISP, and 22.4% without. None of it makes any goddamned sense.

RISP Goins is not meant to be understood, but embraced without question. Kind of like religion in that regard, which I guess makes sense considering Ryan Goins with RISP is basically a god.

Remember that one season where Goins had a Barry Bonds-esque August with like a .450 OBP or something? #NeverForget

Angels and Royals both lost yesterday, so the Jays are still three games back.

There are now four teams either tied for or a half game back of the second wildcard. :o

If baseball ever moves the strike zone a foot up and out, Tepesch will be an ace.
