Re: Red sox @jays
I've heard rumblings that Michael Saunders will get a September call-up. Seriously.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

This team should not rely on Devon Travis to be fully healthy for 2018. This guy should be relied on for a Darwin Barney role in 2018. Time for the organization to move on from calling him the Second Baseman of the future.

Also, Devin travis has had a setback in his rehab, so don't look for him in December.
Tank needs to be at full speed. We are chasing a lot of teams. Need way to go an epic tank run. Smoak should be rested for an indefinite time. Cannot have him hitting home runs and driving in runs, to give us meaningless wins.

Gibby says Jose Bautista will play a lot in September. My interest in that is watching him fall below the Mendoza line which would be sad but still a signal to the Shillners of the world that this team is more than a tweak or two away from being a serious playoff contender in 2018.

Great tank move putting in Koehler. Pretty disturbing that Shapkins thinks Koehler may deserve a spot on next year's team.

Yeah, at least I'm heartened to see that they almost instantly gave up on him as a starter.

Come on, Lopez with another bad fielding decision is the Little Tank (Commander) That Could. Anyway, Luke Maile has been removed from the game in Buffalo and is presumably on his way.

Bautista's now hitting .123/.257/.175 over his last 16 games, with 0 HRs and a 34.3% K rate. Please play the kids come Sept 1st, because this really hurts to watch.
On an entirely different subject, given that Pat/Buck are talking about it: anyone who ever mentions acquiring players to "send a message" or "give the team a boost" should really look at the Twins, who sent a message by acquiring Garcia only to send the exact opposite message when they traded him away a week later...only to go on an incredible tear while still being a bad team by most metrics.
The lesson, as always, is that baseball is weird.

Man, this is not how I envisioned Bautista's twilight years to be like. Whatever happened to he's in great shape, taking anti-aging treatments, wasn't a full-time player till later in his career so his body isn't as beat up etc etc. I mean, not everyone ages like Ortiz lol, but damn, I wasn't expecting Bautista to turn into a pumpkin like this. Really sad to see an icon go out this way.

Productive tank night...closed a game on the Braves, Padres, Tigers and Mets, and likely the A's as well. As those are the five immediately ahead, all of whom lose every damned time I check, that's nothing short of miraculous.
Currently, we're 1.5 back of Atlanta, 2 back of the Padres, will be two back of the A's if they hang on, and 2.5 back of the Tigers and Mets. Might not catch all of them, but the odds are improving that we'll reel in a couple, because we are absolute trash right now.
We also have a shot to post the worst run differential of any Jays team in 35 years; the 1995 side is the clubhouse leader at -135, followed by the 2004 team at -104 (that was the 67 win disaster). We're already at -102...current pace would leave us at -124, but a couple blowouts would give us a shot.

We were winning the first game until Salmons was posted, and then proceeded to cough up that lead, get shut out, then get 7 runs dropped on us while only scoring one. **** is real.
I really hope Bautista doesn't play much in September. I just don't want to see it anymore. We should be trying to play Alford/Teoscar/Dwight Jr as much as we can, alternating with KP and Zeke and Jose.
Whatever. Tank rolls on.

Looks like top 5 might still be in the running.

Might as well. Johan is the one who got us the sweep, and the Salmons pic is already here.
