Let the games begin.

This Twins/Yankees game has been less terrible than I thought it'd be. In fact, it's been really fun so far. Lots of offense. I think the NL WC game will be really good, and the NLDS will also be very competitive.

Predictions:

Yankees over Twins in AL WC

Indians over Yankees 3-1 in ALDS

Astros over Red Sox 3-2 in ALDS

Indians over Astros 4-2 in ALCS

D-Backs over Rockies in NL WC

Dodgers over D-Backs 3-2 in NLDS

Nationals over Cubs 3-2 in NLDS

Nationals over Dodgers 4-3 in NLCS

Indians over Nationals 4-3 in WS

Wow, Severino lasted one third of an inning. Didn't see that coming.

My pick is the Indians - pitching too good.

Edit: And as I type, Judge homers to put the Yanks ahead 7-4. I thought most of the season that Judge would regress... now I'm not so sure. That K rate is awful, but if he's going to keep homering like this then I suppose it's sustainable.

David Robertson is such an asset.

He might regress in some respects (BABIP and HR/FB), but he had the highest exit velocity by some distance this year, and posted a walk rate better than all but one of Bautista's seasons. His second half kinda speaks to that: BABIP was a mere .266, which is actually probably lower than he can expect given how much hard contact he makes, yet he still posted a .228/.391/.548 line. Not as ludicrous as his first half, but a .260/.410/.560 triple-slash seems entirely possible going forward, particularly as he is likely to cut down the Ks to some extent.

Archie Bradley, failed top prospect turned ace reliever, drives in two runs on a triple. It was his his career extra base hit. He was facing Pat Neshek, who has carved out a long career by being absolute murder on right-handed hitters (from 2010 on, he's top 5 in wOBA vR), and Bradley's right-handed.

After being left in to hit in a big moment because they wanted him on the mound for the eighth, he promptly surrendered two homers to give the two runs back. As always, baseball is at its best when it is at its most nonsensical.

CLEVELAND — Major League Baseball has launched an investigation to determine why and for what purpose Diamondbacks coach Ariel Prieto was wearing an electronic watch during their wild-card game Wednesday night against the Rockies, The Post has learned.

In a picture obtained by The Post that MLB has seen, Prieto is shown wearing what appears to be an electronic watch three weeks after Commissioner Rob Manfred sanctioned the Red Sox for having personnel wearing such a watch in games against the Yankees.
Prieto, a former major league pitcher, has been a coach/interpreter for the Diamondbacks the past three years.

Arizona defeated Colorado 11-8 in the wild-card game to advance to the Division Series against the Dodgers.

The only thing better than a Yankees loss is a Yankees chokejob loss.

Can't believe Girardi didn't challenge that HBP lmao. Even Gibby would've been smart enough to do that.

The Red Sox and Yankees down 2-0 is lovely. If they lose, it'll be the fourth straight year that neither advanced to the ALCS. It would also be only the second time in eleven years that no AL team reached the ALCS...2011, when Boston choked away a playoff spot on the final day before the Yankees and Rays lost in the ALDS, is the other.

 I would love to see the Yankees get blown out in Game 3 and Girardi pitch Chapman for four innings just to **** with them before his graceful exit.

Adam Lind finally gets to bat in postseason in his 12th major league season, typical inside-out hit down the line. He had the most games played of any active player without a postseason appearance; Kyle Seager, at exactly 1000 games played, is the new clubhouse leader.

Fine and dandy, except you also forgot to mention he's blonde now:

He's been money as a pinch-hitter for Washington all season. Good for him, I'm glad he eventually carved out a niche after the up-and-down career he had here. Plus this look at least beats the Amish thing he was growing for a little while there.

Look, the Natinals include a guy going for hobo chique in Harper, a guy who probably has a basement full of barrels of beans in a compound in Western Pennsylvania in Werth, and a guy who looks like he plays saxophone at underground jazz clubs in Rendon. Lind's dye job barely merits a mention.

Would love to see the Yankees and Red Sox both get swept, then I can pretty much stop caring about the post-season.
