Today is deadline day for finalizing the 40 man rosters prior to the Rule 5 draft.
Jays open up two more 40 man slots, up to six now, will be filled by this evening, likely by prospects but trades and waiver claims still possible

I agree. Jays shoulda exposed Tulo. Maybe someone bites. If they don’t, well nothing lost eh.
Tulo is a negative due to his contract and regression. I don’t care if he goes for nothing. At this point that would be a win.

One spot still open to add a player in the draft or in another move.

Throwing away a player projected for 2+ WAR is not a wise move. He's a negative because of his contract, but we don't get money back if we release him. None of the guys we released were worth as much as Tulo's production, and we'd be in the same boat with them all year right up until the Rule 5 draft next winter. Besides, if there's a SS on this team that deserves to be DFA'd, I have someone more appropriate in mind than Tulo.
It's also unlikely that some team is gonna keep Harold Ramirez or Max Pentecost on their 25 man roster all season. Trying a failed starter as a relief pitcher on a big league roster happens often, but there aren't a lot of MLB ready bats made available in the Rule 5 draft, and there's really nowhere to hide those guys on a roster all year long.
