That could mean a zillion things and Jeff Blair decided to write it in probably the most ominous way possible for clicks. That is both rude and immoral.

BTW, dealing the #8 prospect to get rid of Morales would really stick in my craw unless the return was a Yellich level player. Otherwise, just eat the f'k'ng salary. The Brewers got Yellich for the #18 prospect and lesser prospects.

I don't buy it, the cost/mistake of getting out of the contract would be worse then the signing itself.

Why do people still believe Blair? Guy has admitted on air to embellishing the truth as a reporter(and justified it by saying that sports reporting would be dead otherwise). He has no sources anywhere.

Can't imagine there's anything to that. It'd make Dave Stewart's insane deals look like the work of a bona fide genius by comparison.

The fanbase would absolutely riot if they traded our 2nd best prospect to shed money

No chance. We pay Morales now for the right to a paying a budding (star?) under-market value for many years -- and during the window when our competitiveness will be growing. Morales is a sunk cost. Pay it. Or mitigate it in other ways. Bichette is potential. Don't trade it for effectively, nothing.

Blair's such a dick. This wasn't a "wrong read", it was either pure trash he concocted or he simply phrased himself in a misleading, idiotic manner.

Yes, a front office that has hoarded prospects for years is going to trade its second best prospect and arguably a top 10-20 prospect in the game just to get rid of a $23m commitment. I totally buy that. Time to panic.

I don't think I'd trust anybody that hasn't been twitterblocked by Blair and Wilner. There's nothing better than seeing "This tweet is unavailable" and knowing I've been saved from losing a few brain cells.

The fact that these guys have paid jobs while we have so many brilliant bloggers doing their work on a volunteer basis is always mind-blowing to me.

I remember permanently tuning out Wilner when he tried making the case that Arenciba was good on offense simply because he hit 20 homers

Blair is such a douche. Can’t stand the guy. Hearing him talk basketball is worse than scratching chalkboard.

There’s no way the Jays do this, especially with Morales value so low. You start the season with Morales at DH and hope he hits well enough to move him at the deadline.

I’ll never ever understand why they thought a 3rd year was necessary for an aging, injury prone DH. This was easily their worst move since AA left.

Also at this stage, what would you do with the money saved? Lorenzo Cain signed with Milwaukee for five years, which is probably longer than the Jays would have contemplated even if the front end dollars were within their bargaining parameters.

If the Jays made a trade like this, I would quit watching.

That would be a good way to lose a lot of fans.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."
