It's been a long time coming, and appears MLB & the Cleveland organization have finally adhered to the public/political outcry.

Is the name itself offensive? I think w/o the stereotype/racist logo, that Indians isn't an offensive name. Now that Washington football team.. we need to talk. But in sports there are teams named after people by location: Texans, Nordiques, Canucks, Yankees, Celtics, etc..

I'd imagine the Braves' and Chiefs names are more stereotypical/racist than the Indians one.

Changing the name would be in keeping with tradition, if nothing else. Before their current moniker, they were the Lake Shores, then the Bluebirds (for one season), then the Naps (named after their manager).

I kinda liked the Chief Wahoo logo. It was really unique. But if people of aboriginal descent found it offensive, then for sure the right move is to get rid of it.

My Indian friends have 0 issue with it so beats me.

They think people need to focus on larger issues at hand ..

They aren't the only Cleveland sports team that should change its name. If I owned a team that went 0-16, I'd want more than a casual rebrand.

Mine all tend to think it's a microcosm of the larger issue at hand and you aren't actually going to get effective change if thinking doesn't change and if people don't care about a mascot or a sporting team name, then they really aren't all that likely to care about the larger issues, either. They also, on average, tend to think that anyone does, in fact, care, if they suggested they don't care but then don't do anything about it when it's pointed out that others do care and want it changed.

I wonder how someone as verbose as you is unable to write out a simple paragraph detailing the reason why the logo is not only racist, but insanely racist.
