The problem with Stroman is that his self-promotion is endless. Little man syndrome. Now would be a good time to consider trading him, because his high salary years aren't going to be measure up with the rebuilding timeline. Of course, I'd not be looking for a small return.

Still, for $400,000 in a winter when the team isn't making contend-now moves, it wouldn't have killed them to avoid this needless headache. They were generous, all things considered, with both Donaldson and Sanchez in avoiding arbitration.

Cry me a river. Same persecution complex as Bautista, only he won't shut up about it. Hopefully he can use this as fuel to compete at a higher level. At least for a couple months so we can trade him.

Definitely silly on Stroman's part. It is why some teams go out of their way to avoid arb, though...it's necessarily an adversarial process, and while most players get that it's just business, some really take umbrage.

The process is dumb to begin with but why are we fighting with one of our top pitchers for $400k?

Trade him now. We don’t need someone like this on the team.

I'd rather not have a management that cheaps out on 400k

Have to draw the line somewhere, and this silliness is mostly on Stroman. That said, Stroman's arb request was below his projection, so I'd have been more willing to settle with him than if he had asked for the moon.

I always thought Stroman would be a Yankee some day. Now I can see it eventually happening. Some day. I don’t get why I thought that but looks too perfect a match.

Stroman is like Bautista for me - like the performance, not too fond of the personality.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

So Sanchez wins in the end. Too bad I don’t see the Jays keeping either long term though. Both are gonna get mega deals when they are eligible

Meh, I don’t really have an issue with either side on this. It’s obviously part of Stroman’s personality to take stuff like this personally and he seems to draw motivation out of it, which has worked out pretty well for him.

From the jays side, it’s just management doing their job and it’s part of the business.

So last year he won and was happy with the Jays and the arbitration process. This year he lost and he's upset. And yet he says he understands it's business. Hmmm?

I'd rather give Sanchez the mega deal. He has more upside and potential and his ego doesn't get in the way.

sanchez is going to free agency, no matter what.

If I were going to move one, its Sanchez.

Dude makes more in a year than any of us make in a lifetime. Bad optics to complain about your bruised feelings as a privileged gazillionaire when the news of the day involves real human tragedy and pain.

I met Stroman a couple of years ago found him really rude and unlikable

Stroman def has some reactionary stuff on Twitter and social media. And I get drawing the line somewhere, but it seems a bit ridiculous that you're willing to pay one of your best young guys 6.5 million, he's asking for 6.9 million and you can't work out 400k before going to arbitration.
