Grichuk is a lot like Trudeau, not very good at his job, but he has a pretty face!

Seriously though, nice to see the Jays cut bait on Gift! Thought they would wait longer glad they didn't.

He’s batting under .100

And you quote how unlucky he’s been on like 4/5 hits . WHO CARES!! even if he had maile luck on those hard hit balls he’s still batting like .150 , it’s the 300 strike outs he’s gonna have and the fact he looks like a space cadet at the plate half the time that make him hard to roll out as the starting RF every night especially when we have capable replacements available that would give us much better chances at winning. If granderson takes his 4 ab’s from last nights game we win most likely. I’m not saying place him on waivers or whatever but dude needs to sit for awhile

Add me to the Grichuk defenders. He will hit, he's a notoriously slow starter. And the chance of a ball dropping in the outfield anywhere near Pillar or Grichuk is slim.

Granderson vs a lefty isn't something you want to see though. That's why Pearce plays for him.

Granderson didn't start because we were facing a lefty, and he has pronounced platoon splits. I'd imagine that he'd have pinch-hit for Grichuk against the right-handed Robertson, but unfortunately we needed him to pinch-hit one batter earlier (which worked out, as he drove in a run).

I'm thinking they called up Gurriel because management is losing patience with Travis as the starting 2B, with all the injuries and the slow start. Otherwise it doesn't make sense for him to be called up for just a part-time job.

Yup, Travis is just a complete mess. Would not be surprised to see Travis sent down rather then Gurriel when Donaldson is ready.

I think it's more likely that they recognized Gift was atrocious (seriously, he found a way to put up -0.4 WAR in 19 PAs) and with Donaldson out this was an opportunity to get Gurriel's feet wet. I doubt he'll stick around when Donaldson is re-activated, but in the meantime he should get regular at-bats - at least two games out of three, I'd say.

This move reminds me of the out of the blue Alford promotion last year. I think that was supposed to be a short-term promotion too, but then Alford got injured.

If Travis is still scuffling badly a month from now, then they may consider a further move. As good as Travis has been in the past, the team can't forever put up with sub-par offense from a guy only playing two thirds of the games. But I think Travis will come around sooner rather than later. He's too good a hitter.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Also has quite a bit to do with the fact that gurriel is on a contract so they’re not not worried about “starting the clock” on him as it’s already started

Stanton, Judge, Sanchez and Didi have combined 15 HR's VS Estrada.

21 Total HR's in the Yankee's line up vs. Marco tonight

HR's vs. Gray? Just 1 from Hernandez.

Smoak and Morales have seen Gray the most combined 47 at-bats hitting total of .142 lol

Anyone else disappointed with Martin?

He had a good spring and is off to a slow start this season.

I am disappointed that he is hitting 5th for sure. Martin has been a very good catcher for a long time but clearly age is catching up to him. Maile is smoking hot and maybe Gibby should be going with the hot bat until it cools off.

That's a Yankee Stadium homer if ever there was one.

Austin is a .280/.308/.840 hitter against the Jays in 26 PAs. Against the rest of baseball, his career numbers are .241/.314/.419 in 159 PAs.

The Blue Jays have single-handedly tacked on more than 50 points of OPS to his career total.
