I'm starting to think that the $2.5m mooted for Kloffenstein is way off, unless LargeHans is signing for waaaaay below slot.

If Klopper and FatHands split their bonus pool, it's about 2.4 for each... I'm guessing Son of Jeff also takes a little less. Family is already set, and know it's a long game to success.

Brodt's a massive senior 1B who displayed serious power this year. Strikes out a lot, doesn't walk much, sort of guy who'll likely put up loud numbers in Vancouver and then falter a level or two above.

I’m warming up to the Groshans pick now we see the first 10 rounds complete. Multiple upside picks, prep picks, and a couple good college rotation arms.

I still would've taken Liberatore, but yeah, Groshans is the type of hitter we need to draft. Someone with star potential if they click. Safe picks in the first round irks me the most, especially since we have no hope of signing stars in FA and drafting them is the best option.

Agreed. Especially when you consider that we will have $500,000+ extra (5%) above our bonus pool to play with. Should rather easily get Groshans comfortably over 3M... only problem will be whether Barger is looking for a big pay day and we are determined to squeeze him in too!

Sounds like Groshans and Kloffenstein already agreed to deals. Not bad getting your two top picks to sign when the draft isn't even over.

As it turns out, the Blue Jays were able to turn the Magnolia pair into a package deal where Groshans received less than the slot value for the 12th overall pick, which allowed Toronto to accommodate his teammate and close friend.
"If he hadn't taken less, they would not have gotten me," Kloffenstein told MLB.com. "I don't know if they planned it that way, but that's the way it happened. [Groshans] came to my house after he got drafted. He was like, 'Dude, you have to take it, you have to take it, you have to go.' I was like, 'I'm not taking less, but if they give me what I want, I'll go.' They finally got there. It took a little bit of going back and forth, but they got there."
According to Kloffenstein, the deal came together late Monday night. Several other teams called but could not put together an enticing enough package. The Blue Jays became a surprise entry after taking Groshans in the first round, and following a back and forth on price, the two sides were able to reach an unofficial agreement. That means Kloffenstein will be turning pro and reporting to Dunedin, Fla., in the coming weeks once the ink is dry.
"Honestly, I didn't," Kloffenstein said when asked if he expected the Blue Jays to target him. "I had some teams that I knew liked me a lot. Some teams that I knew were looking at maybe supplemental first, maybe a chance to get into the bottom of the first round. Definitely had a lot of buzz about high in the second round, but my agent was like, 'Hey, I really don't know where we're going to be.'
"We had about 15 teams in the mix and he never really said anything about the Blue Jays. Once they got Jordan as high as they did ... Jordan said within three minutes of the phone call, they were already talking about me and needing to get Jordan over to my house to get me on board."

Nice to see that the Jays have perfected the emotional blackmail school of drafting. Always appreciated the (failed) attempt with the Nolas a few years back, where we took both with late picks and tried to entice them with the chance to play together as pros.
