The grades on a lot of those players are far too high. Using MLB Pipeline's scale, an FV 55 player is top 100, give or take; FV 50 is top 200 or 250. Our farm system has improved, but we don't have 10% of the FV 55+ players in baseball, nor do we run 20-deep in players who are projected to be major league average or better.

Ok I’ll rephrase it. Wasn’t really going by their metric/system but want to avoid confusion.

I do think we have possibly 10 of the top 200 prospects though since we have 6 in the top 100 by BA.

There are likely too many quality major leaguers on his list. On the other hand, though, some of those guys that he’s projecting are guys who are in the very low minors. These are guys that are going to improve their grades over time, if all goes right. Guys like Miguel Hiraldo and Jordan Groshans aren’t going to make top prospects lists right now, but they *could* be very high a couple of years from now.

Yeah, I mean two years ago Vlad and Bo were hovering around 10th top prospect in our system only. We had guys like SRF, Alford, and even Rowdy Tellez ahead of them (yuck lol).

I’m choosing to be a bit more optimistic with our prospects, I know certain guys won’t turn out and other names we don’t even consider will be suprises. It’s fun to make these lists and compare down the road how things change.

That said, I’m a bit low on Alford and Warmoth, but crossing my fingers I am wrong about them.

BTW, one guy you missed on your list is Danny Jansen.

Oh I had him somewhere, guess it got removed when I was reformatting it. Thanks

I want to say he’s a star/fringe star but I want to see him hit big league pitching first.

But just an above average catcher in the majors is a pretty big deal

Heh, yeah. The established guys tend to get a tad overrated at times while the younger guys far less so. And while I understand the rationale, that doesn't mean it wasn't pretty obvious from the start that Vlad and Bo were surer bets than any of those other guys. Bo in particular seemed to be underrated for quite a while, and even now I think he's sometimes bumped below other SSs that don't necessarily project better than him, but at least he's being given his due as one of the best prospects in the game.

Really, for me, while I really like the a lot of the guys in the farm right now, it's tough for me to project who will and won't make it specifically. I'm confident that Bo and Vlad are both going to be very good. After that, it's a long list of prospects I like but I realistically have no clue. Though I'm on the verge of adding Jansen into Bo and Vlad's group; it isn't his bat I'm concerned with, but rather, if he can catch defensively at the ML level he's going to be very good. I'm also very curious about Biggio.

Looks like we signed more than half of our Draft picks (26/40)

https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/news/blue-jays-sign-26-players-from-2018-draft/c-280936338

And 9 of our top 10, or 14 of our top 15.

It'll be interesting to find out what 5th, 9th and 10th rounders (SR) signed for, as they'll need to save here if they want to fit in our top picks. Even with the 5% overage, we are over our allotment.

What happens if we are over our 5% overage? Are there consequences this season or next season?

We would lose draft picks. We won't be over the 5% for that reason.

Wonder if they’ll give Wymer a shot at starting.
He was much more effective in college as a reliever.

I'm sure he'll start at the beginning. Easy enough to throw him in the 'pen if he flounders in the rotation.
