Fainted in the dugout between innings last night, was taken to hospital where they discovered the brain bleed. He's a former Jays draftee and thus a guy some of us have followed for a really long time. Just awful...hopefully he pulls through and recovers fully, and it's probably lucky as all hell that he was in a place with medical personnel and a mere couple minutes from a major hospital.

Sounds like he likely had an aneurysm pop. Hopefully he's going to be okay. Stadiums and arenas have medical personnel on hand, so they likely got to him pretty quickly, but it's very difficult/impossible to do anything other than rush him to the hospital for immediate neurosurgery.

Game was in Chicago, so I'm assuming they rushed him to UChicago (or maybe Mercy Hospital), which are two of the nearest hospitals in that area. Most likely University of Chicago (haven't checked the reports to see where, so i'm just guessing based on personal experience living in that area).

Could've been an idiopathic (medical cause unknown) aneurysm that hemorrhaged, or it could likely be due to an underlying condition, like Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (don't look up pictures if you don't want to be disgusted...i'm in med school and the images give me chills).

Either way, hopefully he fully recovers and is able to return to the baseball field next season.

Has the use of his extremities, able to speak. Doesn't mean he's walking out of hospital in a week, but that's extremely good news.

The White Sox announced this afternoon that right-hander Danny Farquhar has been discharged from RUSH University Medical Center. He’s resting at home with his family, per the update. While that’s tremendous news in and of itself, the Sox’ press release also indicates that while Farquhar will not pitch again in 2018, his neurosurgeon expects that he’ll be able to return to pitching in the future.

Farquhar will throw out the first pitch tonight. Doesn't appear to have any lingering neural issues, which is incredible.
