It would be nice to stay above .500. That means we somehow need to win the first matchup, which is not at all favourable.

The team really misses the Granderson/Pearce platoon, which carried us for much of April. It would also help if Donaldson could get hot - a .788 OPS and 31 K in 103 PA doesn't cut it for your best hitter.

With the Alford demotion the active roster sits at 24, including 13 pitchers and 3 outfielders. Most likely Dwight Smith Jr gets added before tonight's game since they want Pompey and Alford to get regular at-bats.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Need Pearce to come back. But man is this guy made out of glass for what.. He's always injured.

Agree with Lateral, Donaldson needs to get going, and Martin needs to pick things up. Can't have your starting catcher batting .150 with an OBP under .300 and OPS of .670 and making $20 million.

The good players need to do good, and we need to score more runs than the other team. More on this tonight at 7.

Not unrelated: the average age of those players is about 33 and a half.

Wait, Morales' WAR is only at -0.8? That's pretty good actually. I would've expected at least -1.5 by now.

The fact that he is only -0.8 casts doubt on the entire metric. He has cost us more than one game this year by doing nothing with runners on. This surely isn't balanced out by the 2-3 games all season where he has had a meaningful impact.

How the hell did we trade Noah for a 40 year old knuckle Baller.

That farce of a trade continues to rankle me. And Garcia better get the message that if he gives up a couple of runs early, we're not going to win.

Then again, thank goodness for Jay Bruce.

Garcia is garbage... This Mets team can't hit lefties and yet they chase Garcia out of the game early. Another Blue Jays starter with a short outing. When will this pain end!!! Can this season end already? :banghead:

Nice pickup Shatkins. $8 million. lol.

When you're signing a guy on a short-term contract in the $7-10m AAV range, you're signing a guy who is badly flawed. All of them are badly flawed, or they wouldn't be signing for that even in a weird-as-hell FA season.

The problem is that we're spending all the money on a whole bunch of broken old dudes, and consequently had to hope that a couple of our old dude starters didn't decline, and that Jaime Garcia (who might as well be an anthropomorphic coin flip, so varied are his seasonal results over the years) was the best we could afford.

I just wish we rebuild at this point. Sell high on Pillar now before he goes back to being his old self

Hopefully Josh picks it up so his trade value rises

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
