June 29-July 1: It's hot, really hot this weekend (no, not the Tigers and Jays)

The weather outside is frightful
The AC so delightful,
These teams still want to try,
Let em fry, let em fry, let em fry

Yes, its going to be really hot and humid

(All season they schedule Saturday games for 4:07, but for the hottest weekend of the year - 1:07. Better close the dome and turn up the AC!)

Friday, Jun 29, 7:07 PM EDT
Francisco Liriano (3-3, 3.94 ERA) vs Marcus Stroman (0-5, 6.80 ERA)

Saturday, June 30, 1:07 PM EDT
Matthew Boyd (4-6, 4.15 ERA) vs Sam Gaviglio (2-2, 3.98 ERA)

Sunday, Jul 1, 1:07 PM EDT
Jordan Zimmermann (2-0, 4.35 ERA) vs J.A. Happ (10-3, 3.62 ERA)

Monday, July 2, 1:07 pm EDT
Mike Fiers (5-5, 4.04 ERA) vs Ryan Borucki (0-1, 3.00 ERA)

I continued the song into the 2nd paragraph and got confused when I hit the brackets. It's going to be a long season.

Old friends Liriano and Boyd coming back to say hello. Boyd was such an under-rated loss in that Price trade. Oh, how bad we could have used that unglamourous 4-something ERA to stabilize the back of the rotation over the past two seasons. Tepesch, Bolsinger, Valdez, Latos, Biagini, Garcia, Liriano, Lawrence.... what a goddamn nightmare.

I've sat in a ground level seat behind third base in weather like this: sunny and hot, hot. And even with a decent SPF suntan lotion, I burned. It's actually a minor health hazard. So cover up as much as possible. Maybe those linen shirt and pants.

Good point, most were lamenting Norris being included when Boyd has had been the one having more success...

I'll be going to the game July 1. I hope the dome is closed. Feels like 45degrees - borderline dangerous.

There's no rhyme nor reason to their roster management of middle infield backups this year. Urena, Gurriel, Urshela, Travis, Diaz, now Sweeney. Who's next?

Never heard of Darnell Sweeney but figured we would need someone else to cover shortstop. Was worried we'd pickup Ryan Goins.

Gotta say, it's easy to see this team at .500 or better with a healthy/active Stroman, Donaldson and Osuna all year. And that's where most pre-season projections had the team. Actually it's quite possible they would still finish .500 if they weren't going to imminently blow it up. That says more about the number of bad to mediocre teams than the talent on the roster, though.

I went to the game tonight and I have a pair for Monday. It was a great night to be at the ballpark. Weather was perfect.

Solid outing from Stroman with good support from Oh and Clippard. Smoak came through with a two run bomb. The Jays got lucky on Grichuk’s bases loaded RBI infield hit.

Bad call by Solarte to try to take third. Ball wasn’t hit deep enough and he didn’t stand a chance. If he stayed at second, Smoak’s homer is a three run shot, not just two.

Surprising number of Tigers fans. I even saw some guys with T-shirts/caps that read “Canadian Tigers Fan”.
