Do you guys see Jays making another trade prior to the start of the season, by that I mean trading one of the regulars like:
Kevin Pillar
Justin Smoak
Kendrys Morales
Stroman
Sanchez
Would like to see if can move off Kevin Pillar get someone younger at this point, moving one of Justin/Kendrys can open up some playing time for Rowdy Tellez, and Stro/Sanchez at this point they don't lineup with our next "wave" of prospects coming up.

It wouldn't surprise me either way, although I suspect they have reached the budget limit of dead money (Tulo, Russ) they'll accept until they can pro-rate some of the season for, say, Morales. I suspect Tellez opens up at Buffalo, and would in most scenarios.

NEXT winter's FA signing predictions by Mike Axica at CBSsports… (dude is obviously throwing spaghetti against the wall, but for those here wanting us to throw some $ around, this guy figures we step up a year from now----)
12. Nicholas Castellanos
DET • RF • 9
2020 Season Age
28
Why sign J.D. Martinez when you can sign Nicholas Castellanos and get a younger version of J.D. Martinez? It's not a crazy line of thinking. Castellanos is not the hitter Martinez is, but he's entering what should be his peak years, and he has same opposite field power stroke that makes Martinez so dangerous. Also, like Martinez, Castellanos is a liability in the outfield and likely best suited for DH. He's a very good hitter right now and, given his age, there's a chance he'll spend the next few seasons as one of the 10 best hitters in the sport. Castellanos is going to a popular free agent in a year. You watch.
2020 Team Prediction: Blue Jays. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette are going to need a running mate.
22. Alex Wood
CIN • SP • 40
2020 Season Age
29
Alex Wood is a tough guy to figure out. He's obviously really good. He's also worn down late in each of the last two seasons and wound up in the bullpen at various points, plus his velocity is trending down. I could see teams holding that again(st) him. That said, Wood will play the entire 2020 season at 29 and he is a lefty with a knack for missing bats. That'll play.
2020 Team Prediction: Blue Jays. I think Toronto is going to spend some money next winter.

I think they want to make more deals but arent getting offers they like. In terms of selling it wouldnt surprise me if they are done for now.
I personally feel Toronto and Cleveland make too much sense. Cleveland is trying to shed payroll and improve their OF and pen. Earlier i proposed Pillar for Salazar, i still think that trade can make sense. Could even potentially make it bigger by offering Giles/Tepera and/or taking on Kipnis if the Indians give us prospects back.

Morales is virtually untradeable. Why they ever gave him a 3 year contract is still a mystery?
I think Smoak and Pillar are both highly likely to get moved although it’s one year later than they should have on both.

Agreed, but wondering why they waited one year, did they hope the offers would be better - 1 year later?

I think ownership was pushing management to try and compete last season, so they didn't trade Donaldson or anyone else who should have been moved. That wasted both assets and one year of rebuilding.

I agree that Castellanos is going to be a popular free agent next year. He is in for a big year this year - love his game! Hope the Jays can snatch him up lol.

The New York Yankees have agreed to terms with right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino on a three-year contract worth around $25 million, report Robert Murray and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Love seeing these moves... helps to ensure the Jays get a top 3 pick in the draft!
