Personally, I prefer The Bedlam. I’d always be concerned about how to pluralize Entropy.

Looks like the 9th inning collapse yesterday took the wind out of the Spx sails.

Actually, anyone but the Red Sox. They irritate me even more than the Yankees.

I mean, yeah, their record is ****, but they had a +134 run differential (94-67 pyth record). And that was without Acuna. They're a decent team.

And yeah, their division sucks, but so did the AL Central and AL West.

The Dodgers are a great team on paper, but they always choke. Maybe it's luck, but I like to think it's karma for them trying to buy their way to a title every year.

They've consistently had a top-5 (usually top-1) payroll since 2013 and have just one title to show for it. They've won their division in all but one of those seasons.

So weird that Sheehan suggests that Alex Cora, the manager, might be responsible for tactical decisions, rather than a bunch of unaccountable spreadsheet warriors who have never watched baseball before.

We got the best case scenario WS. I care less about this series than the previous two, but I'll be rooting for AA.

I'm curious about this Bob Melvin article. What is the rationale for the A's to allow him to move in the same division for no compensation? Was Melvin still under contract?

This is a cheap, low budget team allowing one of the best managers in the game to move laterally -- and they don't find a way to benefit (at least publicly) from it.

From an employee / personal perspective, this is a great gesture to Bob Melvin. Move to a new team that will most likely pay you significantly more, and get to manage a future superstar.

Does Oakland generate a lot of goodwill around the league by doing this? Is that their strategy here?

I hope AA texts Ed Rogers after they clinch the WS and asks him how his ass tastes.

it's impressive when colour commentators talk about how managers gameplan against opposing lineups and are somehow able to keep their lips sealed about The Nerds who are actually doing all the gameplanning for them.

well, if the jays are gonna tragically miss the playoffs, then i couldn't have hoped for a better result on this season:

- the orioles were just garbage. pure garbage.
- the yankees only played one more game than the jays
- the red sox didn't win it
- the rays (**** them) didn't either
- the cheatin ass astros tried but ultimately could not win a title without an asterisk
- no AL team wins

it does suck though that we could absolutely pummel this atlanta team in a 7-game series
