Don't think that the Dodgers will be down 2-0 for long, heh. 11-0 is quite a score after a half inning.

ya even worse, down 3-1 lmao.

Roberts shouldn't have made them use up all their runs in that one inning. Bad managing if you ask me.

It's like the Rays have been practicing for a playoffs with no fans in the stands their entire lives.

And if the Rays win, after the Bolts won, do the Heat have to move to Tampa, too? The Bucks are first in their division and could win it all, too. 2020 does seem like the year of a Tampa sweep.

Oh yeah!! I am totally rooting for the Rays then! That'd be super cool to have NHL/MLB in the same city titles!

To bad the Heat weren't able to beat the Lakers.

The Lakers only won because the NBA doesn't have a team in Tampa so 2020 settled for putting the Heat in the finals but, as I mentioned, they'd need to move to Tampa if they actually wanted to win it all. Something about about the water in that area. I hear the bus stations there are full of the most rational people the world has ever seen.

Remmeber how outraged half this board was when the Jays didn’t pony up an obscene amount of money for David Price? That aged well.

2009: Steelers and Penguins

2004 Red Sox and Pats

1988: Dodgers and Lakers

That’s the full list I believe. We don’t need a repeat of 1988 in this corner. Augh.

I signed the Prince Fielder petition.

Toward the end of the AA era (I think), I tried to figure out what our payroll/team performance would be if we signed all of the mega FAs that the fanbase demanded. Can't remember the exact numbers, but we'd have been paying out something like $200m/year to a sub-.500 team.

Prince Fielder, David Price, Johnny Cueto and Albert Pujols are the ones I can remember (which means that it would have been early in Shapiro's tenure, not end of AA's, probably 2017 or so). There were a couple more, though...one or two good deals in there (like first-contract Yu Darvish) but the end result at one point in time would have been paying well over $100m a year in AAV to guys who were barely over replacement as a collective group.

I don’t remember much Pujols buzz, that would have been 2011 when AA was still trying to clean up JP’s mess.

I do remember Sandoval buzz after he won the WS MVP, that would have been a big whiff too.

There was a significant pro-Pujols contingent at the same time as Fielder (not naming and shaming anyone: by virtue of arguing about baseball on the Internet, we are all wrong by default):

Admittedly that was before he signed...people were a bit more iffy afterward:
