I take back want I said about Teoscar. Huge home run and on an 0-2 count.

Galvis really playing out of his mind this season. Definitely a piece going forward, so that's a nice positive so far this season. Hope he keeps it up. Hopefully, we hold on. Really can't wait to see Vlad up with this group though. His impactful offense will instantaneously make everyone better, if that makes sense.

His game is definitely "hope the home run is of the solo variety". From Gameday, doesn't seem like he has his command at the moment.
I just saw the highlight of the Astudillo play. That is one athletic tub of gravy.
Told you!
Link it here for BLC to see (poor guy missed it).

Yeah, 100%. He'll regress offensively and others will eventually heat up. But we take whatever positives we can get with this team. Would be rough to imagine this current offense without his hot bat.

Re: Toronto (5-11) @ Minnesota (8-4) -- April 15-18
Don't expect Galvis to be a long-time Jay (owing to our MI prospects), but if he can keep hitting through June, he's useful trade bait. Granted, most good teams also have good shortstops these days, but there's always the possibility that Milwaukee finally gives up on pretending that Orlando Arcia is Andrelton Simmons.
Galvis wouldn't fetch a mint, but it's basically found money. And given that he hasn't hit before this year, and is an FA after 2020, you probably don't wait too long to cash in.

Galvis won't be a long-time Jays, but he should remain as a Jays through the contract he just signed.

Why would we do that if he ends up being a legitimate trade chip at the deadline?

Re: Toronto (5-11) @ Minnesota (8-4) -- April 15-18
Even less than that: why would we keep him for two years when our best prospect after Vlad is a shortstop. And we can't move Galvis to 2B, because our other near-ready prospect plays that position.
Further...I really can't emphasize enough how unlike the rest of Galvis' (fairly long) career this is. There are 118 players who've gotten 3000 PAs over the preceding seven seasons; Galvis is 116th in wRC+ among that group. The likelihood that he's suddenly an elite shortstop are pretty low.

Vlad is coming in about a week, I'm not sure what you want done in the mean time? Heck by August we might have new players at 5-6 positions from our opening day lineup. That is what I would consider a successful season
Obviously this is a rebuilding year, considering everyone thought this was a bad team in spring training expecting more than a bad team now doesn't make sense.

As bad as we've been offensively, with a single above average bat in our lineup (like a Vlad) it's quite possible we could be flirting with .500 right now. The starting pitching has been that good.
Vlad should be up soon, and I really hope Biggio is not far behind. And hopefully Bichette and Alford merit call-ups by mid-season.

With a little uptick in offense, we might only lose 95....

Minus Jansen and Grichuk that is our Jays lineup for 2020.

How does a guy go from AAA fodder to MLB leadoff hitter? I know we're not competitive, but is this really the guy we want to see the most at-bats out of? Put Brito up there or Hansen up there. They suck too, but at least they have a potential future.

So close to our ultimate tank lineup that includes all 3 of Drury, Brito, and Hanson. Sogard is even worse than Drury with the stick, so I suppose this counts.
Brutal. Absolutely brutal.
