The Vlad-less (8-12) @ The A's (11-10) - April 19-21

Post#1 » by Lateral Quicks » Fri Apr 19, 2019 2:48 pm

The Vlad-less Jays embark on a peculiarly short 3-game west coast trip against the A's. Will our bombs-away offense adjust to playing in the cavernous Oakland Coliseum? Why are there only 3 infielders on the A's active roster? Will Socrates Brito get his first hit of the season? Can the Jays win their second series in a row? Tune in to find out.

Game 1 - Fri 10:07: Stroman (0-3, 1.99 ERA) vs Brooks (2-1, 4.24 ERA)
Game 2 - Sat 4:07: Shoemaker (3-0, 1.75 ERA) vs Fiers (2-1, 7.06 ERA)
Game 3 - Sun 4:07: Sanchez (2-1, 2.86 ERA) vs Anderson (3-0, 2.63 ERA)

We get to see this guy (and his .569 OPS)!

They're losing but the kelly green jerseys are quality. Stadium might spontaneously combust at any time, but they look solid.

Hard to believe Drury has zero RBI.

Good to see Teoscar’s walks and strike outs trending in the right direction to start this year.

He has the upside of above average player if he can improve his defence.

Shoemaker hurts his knee in a tag run down.. a rundown that should have been completed before he got involved imo. Poor Shoemaker.. tough break for him and the Jays... hopefully not serious.

Drury showing something approximating signs of life: he's 5 for his last 16 with 2 HRs and a double, and only 4 strikeouts! That's semi-competent.

Sogard's BABIP luck making our roster situation a little harder to resolve. Gotta hate when you call someone up to be a sacrificial lamb and they end up having 50%+ of their balls in play go for hits.

How have we put up five run innings four times already this year? We really are all or nothing I guess.

Tellez certainly bringing the power this year. Would like to see those K numbers come down, though.

We're actually hitting reasonably well over the past couple weeks. More than 5 runs/game from the Boston series on, with peripherals that are more league-average than absolutely pathetic.
