Thanks Myth11111 for making the GT - wasn't able to put it together until now. May the win streak continue :)

Giants at 2.91 runs scored per game,2nd last in the league. However, 3rd in runs against per game, still not a very good recipe.

Thats probably why the giants don't score many runs, parra tagged out stealing home plate with 2 out.

Rowdy with the grand salami!

Now down 7-6... can we pull it out?

Grand slam off a very tough LvL matchup, at that. He's been bad against lefties in a very small sample; being someone who can hit at least competently against them is going to be an important part of having a meaningful career, and perhaps this earns him a few more chances.

I don't even mind losses this year if they're putting up a fight and playing hard. I'm already having more fun watching this team than last years, aside from those ugly no hit runs. It should only get better once we get Vladdy, Bichette and Biggio in the mix.

How long before Thornton is demoted? He's been meh so far this season. Good game yesterday. Came up a bit short. Love the patience Tellez is showing at the plate at times. The grand salami was sweet to watch.

Thornton has the best SIERA of any starter on the roster. Better than Stroman, better than Shoemaker (RIP), much better than Sanchez. His 19% K-BB rate is elite (15 qualified starters achieved that last year). To demote him for having a bad HR/FB% over the span of 3 weeks would be pretty short-sighted.

There's no question that Thornton's giving up a lot of hard contact over his past three starts; you don't just give up on him because he has given up a lot of hard contact over three starts, however.

Thornton is talented. I would like to see him throw more breaking ball for strike. He is not going to get demoted given that Shoemaker is out of the year and Sanchez is having finger problem again.

Throwing his curve in/around the zone is definitely a key for him. First start, he was locating it well, and that kept hitters off his fastball. Plus, I know it's a commentator cliche, but it's true: pitchers are just better when they're ahead in the count. Thornton's getting thumped mostly because he's been getting behind, and unless he can throw something else for a strike in those counts, that's going to seriously enhance your opposition's power numbers.

Not short-sighted at all. Just my opinion. I see nothing in Thornton that will prove me wrong. All I care is about wins and losses and ERA. He got hit pretty hard by an awful hitting Giants team (hitting .212 as a team)

Let's see what happens. It's not like we have anyone to replace him with anyways. So we are stuck with him for now.
