Guessing we're pulling Vladdy to protect him as much as anything. The odds of him getting another at-bat in such circumstances are pretty low, and basepath injuries are pretty common.

This Sogard thing is hilarious. I cannot emphasize enough how bad a hitter he has been throughout his career.

A bit less surprised than you Schad. I thought he had a strong spring and looked pretty good with the bat. He won't be able to sustain this hot start throughout the course of the season, but if he can give us some timely hits and good ABs it's a bonus! Plus we don't really have a decent lead off guy to replace him with so this will suffice for now.

Game over. Sogard is the only player that showed up today. We had our chances. Tough loss.

I mean, he's going to go back to being a bad hitter in short order, heh. He's hitting nearly .500 on balls in play...that's thoroughly unsustainable. Same thing that happened with Galvis, who came back to earth in a big way prior to his injury.

Heh, this game won't end.

Trienen had given up 8 ER in 93.2 IP over the past year and a month. This is the first time he's given up multiple earned runs over that span.

I doubt it. Vlad needs to be on the field as much as possible. If they are worried about him getting injured at age 20 by just running the bases, then he should either not be up and be told to get in shape first, or be playing a different sport.
No, its Montoyo trying to wrest back some control from shatkins. But he is too stupid to realize that if he continues this stupidity, it will only end up making Shatkins dictate to him even more. Which I have no problem with. This guy looks as agreeable as a major league manager can get. Shatkins should just give him a daily flowchart from here on and don't leave any room for any initiative or creativity (which from him will result in more nonsense).

More like a illusion of a power struggle in Montoyo's head. Shatkins control the strings regardless. Just looking back at Gibby's exit, one gets a sense from his post- exit interviews to the media that he wasn't willing to be anyone's footsoldier. So they went out and got his exact opposite. Guy who will follow orders. Unfortunately, he is also Gibby's exact opposite when it comes to ingame decisions.

Atleast thats the story I have conjured up.

That strikes me as being highly unlikely. Seems far more likely that we're simply protecting Guerrero, given that he's by far our most important asset, and given that he only recently returned from a muscular injury.

I'll have you all know I had a Luciano 11th inning win and a Drury 3-run bomb in the pool.

Baseball is a funny game sometimes.

Personally I'm upset Montoyo pulled Brito for Galvis. I kinda wanted to watch Brito strike out a couple more times.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I also cannot imagine how Montoyo gains from this. He was going to be criticized by the media - and may still be - but for the comeback win. Unless Hanson steals a base or two, and comes in to score, it's a bad look for Montoyo.

I can't believe people actually want Gibbons back. He's the last person who should be coaching a bunch of kids in a rebuild year.

Here we are in a rebuild season with a bunch of guys no one has ever heard of and we're playing .500 ball. Montoyo has done a fantastic job this season, but the guys aren't up there coming out of their shoes with every swing so I guess he's a failure.

As for pinch running for Guerrero, he's the #1 prospect in baseball and a few weeks removed from a knee injury. People want him out there trying to score from first like we're in the wild card game or something. You know the kid is going to go 100% to leg it out. Not worth the risk, and fortunately the fans aren't the ones making these decisions.
