Re: Red Sox @ Jays, May 20 - 23
His average exit velocity on home runs is 108mph, and his average distance on HRs is among the highest in the league (granted, on only five events).
The other thing: can't be bothered to go back through them all, but at least three of his HRs to CF weren't bad pitches...Porcello missed his spot, but ended up low outside third. Pitches in that area generally don't end up 425 feet away, and the fact that Vlad's now crushing those to center rather than trying to yank them to left really takes away options for pitchers.
**** your asterisk.

Vladito is now hitting .400/.475/.909 in his last 10 games, with a 7.5% K rate. He's okay.
**** your asterisk.

Tough to get much going when your bottom six is:
6) Galvis
7) Drury
8) Maile
9) Davis
Yikes. It's even worse knowing that none of these guys are part of the future. I'd like to see Biggio and Gurriel get called up soon.

So he's legit. Phew.

Jays' 2007 9th rounder on to face them in the 9th in a one-run game, for his first-ever conventional save. I'm not cheering against Walden, because he's had a crazy path to this point.
**** your asterisk.

Giles' gonna get us something real. He's well and truly back to his dominant, pre-self-destructive self.

Osuna was kind of annoying for his stuff, he'd go cutter and change-up, allow a few base runners and 15-20 mins later gets the save. Giles gets the ball and no messing around. Two hard pitches they can't pickup the spin on.
Having said that, Osuna has an era of 0.42 and whip of 0.422 so far this season.

Yeah, Osuna's definitely good. I'm fine with Giles, however, because the only person he beats is himself.

Ditto. What happened the game he hit himself, am surprised he imploded.

I'm surprised Walden is still in... Let's hope Drury ends it right here!

That Galvis AB was about as bad as you'll see in the Majors.

0.1 IP, 4 ER. Went 1B, 2B, K, HR, 1B before getting pulled. Decided to take out his frustrations on his own face.

The Red Sox have the best bullpen comprised of Starbucks baristas in the majors. Walden, Brasier, Workman, Hembree...that's a solid collection of dudes than any team in the majors could have had at age 27 for $100 apiece.
**** your asterisk.

With their payroll, they need all the $100 guys they can find.

Not enough is made of the bright nail paint that a lot of catchers, Sandy Leon included, wear to make their signs more visible. Nothing works better with a giant thick beard than saucy orange nails.
