So when do they move Sanchez to the bullpen?

His finger cant hold up being a starter.

Hopefully he never starts another game again and he can recoup some value by being a solid reliever.

Waguespack's velocity certainly wasn't enthralling, but he got a good count of swinging strikes. Might be the next contestant on Uh, Hey, Who's Free to Start?

Well, after the game Montoyo said Waguespack had some shoulder tightness. Of course.

If nothing else, we're on pace to break last year's mark for most pitchers used in a season...already at 23, having reached 36 in 2018.

I have no real plans this weekend. I'm available as long as I'm not required to pitch while the Raptors are on.

About Sanchez, have they ever just completely shut him down for six months or something like that, no throwing a baseball or anything like it at all? I know he's constantly had IR stints but I can't remember if they've ever done this. That might be the only thing left to try at this point if he wants to be a starter. I'm not even sure moving to relief will solve it but at least there's a much better chance he can maintain a career.

My understanding is that it's his grip combined with the seams on the newer balls...no matter how long he's shut down for, he's prone to friction injuries on his finger from the way he holds and releases the ball.

The difficulty for Sanchez is that his fastballs are exceedingly tasty for opposing hitters; his fastball variants had an xwOBA of .413 last year, and against his curve/change they had an xwOBA of .256. In essence, against hard stuff they were slightly worse than Christian Yelich, against his soft stuff they were slightly worse than Rajai Davis. He can ill-afford to lose that weapon, unless he can develop something else to replace it.

I'm so done with Sanchez. This guy can never stay healthy. Frustrating and sad at the same time.

Grichuk seems to have 0 ability to do situational hitting or hit with two strikes. Second and Third with nobody out, you've got to do something.

His contract isn't exactly a disaster, but I do question the timing of it. Did they expect such a monster year from him that locking him up for 50 million seemed like a buy low strategy?

This team is going to lose more than 100 games this season. They are unwatchable right now. If you can't score any runs you are not going to win any games.

Wonder how many players in baseball history have had a ten-year major career that began after the age of 30, as Erik Kratz's did. Imagine you might have some former Negro League players who joined MLB after integration, but I can't imagine he has many compatriots. And I can guarantee that none of them have played as few innings as Kratz has.
