Jays migrate to Colorado - 31/1/2

Post#1 » by BigLeagueChew » Fri May 31, 2019 10:18 pm

Young jays may be more likely to migrate than adults, but many adults also migrate. Some individual jays migrate south one year, stay north the next winter, and then migrate south again the next year. No one has worked out why they migrate when they do.

Game 1 Fri, May 31 • 8:40 PM EDT
Edwin Jackson vs German Marquez

Game 2 Sat, Jun 1 • 9:10 PM EDT
Marcus Stroman vs Jon Gray

Game 3 Sun, Jun 2 • 3:10 PM EDT
Aaron Sanchez vs Antonio Senzatela

Maybe we should replace EJacks.

I would honestly prefer to have Maile start instead of Jackson.

But who knows, maybe Jackson just needs to figure something out and is on the cusp of being a merely terrible major league pitcher.

Is the season over yet? Boy does this team suck! I'm losing interest very quickly. I just don't see this team being any better next season after we trade Stroman and Sanchez away. Watch it be even worse next season. What a mess Alex put this team in with his trades and signings. Smh..

We might well be worse next year. Future isn't bad overall -- especially if we can make something of the next two drafts/trading our soon-to-be-FAs -- but it's not going to be pretty on the road there.

I'm still basically fine with that. Even if the path was pretty ugly, we have a pretty good idea of what we're going for now, which hasn't always been the case. I'd rather be a tire fire for a year or two than a team that goes into every season thinking they have a shot before ending up in no man's land (which would be the Angels, a team I will probably never forgive for wasting most of Mike Trout's career by yelling OH HEY WE ARE COMPETITIVE without actually being competitive. Might be the best player in the history of the game, and they haven't even managed to win one playoff game with him).

I hear ya Scad. Just frustrating watching this team pile up the losses. I wasn't expecting them to compete for a wild card spot this season, I just wanted them to compete and have a decent record (.400 to .500 PCT) but that hasn't been the case so far. The injuries haven't helped either. Only a few bright spots this season with Thorton, Vladdy, Giles and Stroman. I just hope when we do move Stroman, Sanchez, Smoak and Giles that we get some good to great pitching prospects in return. This team needs them.

Arenado with Arod around third base, from April but worth a look if you haven't seen it.

Stroman's throwing more breaking stuff then ever, that might not go well tonight.

Can’t have it both ways. AA gave us two exciting years with a chance. The players be traded away haven’t done much either, especially Hoffman. If anything Atkins blew it when everyone was saying trade Donaldson and he kept him thinking we had a shot last year. We could have got a decent haul for him prior to the non sense from last season.

Brutal man.. I'm not even watching any of their live games anymore. Just catching the boxscore and highlights. I was planning to go and watch a few games this summer, but I think I'll pass and save my money. I'm jumping off the bandwagon. I'll jump back on when they start winning again.

Read on Twitter

“I work extremely hard, every single day, extremely hard.”

“I hold myself to an extremely high level and we’re losing, a lot. So it’s not fun. This is not fun. It’s not a fun atmosphere."

“I’m a winner. I hate losing. I can’t put that into words enough so... it’s tough.”

Bring on the Yankees, who have won like 10 consecutive series.

We have the worst babip in the league and lowest obp, bottom 5 in war too. :(

Sogard isn't the typical lauch angle, bat speed or power guy but as long as they keep pitching him middle-in, he'll keep getting hits, i think.

The Grichuk extension looks like a really bad decision right now. If we're going to be bad for at least a couple years, why sign a mediocre outfielder to a 5-year deal? It's not like Grichuk will attract fans all by himself.

Man, we should run a poll: When will the Blue Jays win another game?

7-24 since the improbable 14-14 start. We've now dropped below the hapless Marlins.

Grichuk is a streaky guy. Alternates being looking like one of the worst players in baseball, and one of the best.

I was actually thinking about this exact thing as I was in my car listening to the game on XM radio. I don’t think Shatkins is very good at evaluating talent i.e. trading Happ and wanting Billy McKinney and Brandon Drury in return, who are both the very definition of irrelevant mediocrity. And then on top of that who says to themselves, “Man, I’ve really got to extend Grichuk”? I mean why? Was he in great demand? Was the risk of losing him going to be so detrimental that the team would struggle to ever recover? I just don’t think that management is really that good at what they do; it really is that simple.

Which means that he is mediocre. Why the rush and the need to extend mediocrity? Who was Shatkins competing against? And so what if you lost him, I mean is that really going to hurt the team in the long run?
