Blow Birds @ Bronx Bombers - June 24-26

Maybe this is the series where the Jays turn it around.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Sanchez and Gleyber Torres just had an eight-pitch at-bat where not a single pitch was in a location where it'd have more than a 10-20% chance of getting called a strike. The count was 1-2 when Torres got a hit.

I look forward to that moment in the future when I'll have completely forgotten that Drury and McKinney were ever on the team. Hopefully Bichette gets the nod soon so we can say goodbye to one of them.

Sanchez has tanked his trade value all the way to the bargain bin. I'd say stick him in the pen and see if he can salvage his career, but when you're still starting the likes of Edwin Jackson, it's hard to pitch yourself out of the rotation on the 2019 Jays.

I'd move him to the bullpen when Giles is traded, even if our rotation is a mess. Make him the closer, see if he can post results in that role, and hope to peddle him in the offseason. He still isn't going to return much, but the gap between Sanchez and the Jackson/Richard wing of the rotation is closing quickly.

Still some distance to go to know whether Gurriel is a beast long-term. The power is really impressive; his contact profile is acceptable so long as the power remains impressive.

Encouraging how far he’s come, though. Basically missed a year when he defected. Then his first year in the Jays organization was basically a lost year because of injuries. Then last year, after barely playing baseball over the previous two years, he held his own as a rookie in the MLB. Now, after his slow start this year, he’s arguably been our best player since being recalled a month ago. So things are pointing in the right direction. He’s a fun guy to watch.

Absolutely, he's been the surprise of the season. I was fairly dubious that he would hit enough if unable to man a premium defensive position, but he clearly has the power to hack it.

I'm just suggesting that people be a little patient, because there's a bit of a history of declaring someone who has a hot month to be our next offensive superstar, and then turning on them when mean reversion occurs. Gurriel has demonstrated that he could be a serious offensive talent, but he still has some developing to do.

The team seems to have told him to sink or swim with the blisters - no more long absences. That makes some sense, since it would seem the problem will recur regardless of how much time he takes to heal. Unfortunately the writing is on the wall at this point - he needs to go to the pen. Maybe he makes the move when Borucki returns.

The offense is showing signs of life here and there. But this with AAAA rotation, they practically need to score double digits every night to have a chance.

Dude, you have been ranting like this for the past several months. The team stinks, everyone knew that the team would stink. If you’re going to stink, then you should really stink. They are doing a good job really stinking. Let’s get the number one pick.

Number one picks are not guaranteed. And even if we draft a player we won't see him for several years. Other than Giles and Stroman who will be gone by next season the rest of this pitching staff stinks! How in the world are they going to address this and sell it to their fanbase for next season? If you think this pitching staff is bad wait until next season. Sucks to be a Blue Jays fan.

I'm getting older and I can't stand these rebuilds anymore. I've had enough. Why can't we be like the Red sox and the Yankees and compete year after year?? Pisses me off..

When does hockey start? I'm done with baseball this season. You guys won't hear from me again.
