5 HRs in 8 games...yeah, Jansen has turned it around.

Also: no Ks in his last 31 PAs, and only 1 walk. He's the new Willians Astudillo!

and he's only batting one point over the mendoza line.

Just shows how awful he was prior to this hot streak. I'm glad he figured things out.

Less awful than unlucky. His expected wOBA entering today was a shade above average...he's been making decent contact all season, and his K and BB rates are good.

Luckily, he seems to have decided to bypass his strangely low BABIP by just hitting the ball over the fence every time.

Edit: make it 6 in 8. Egads. His slugging percentage has jumped 121 points in a week and a half, his OPS by almost 150.

This is the version of Danny Jansen I thought we were getting this year. Great to see.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Was going to ask why pitch Giles three straight days.

After this discussion of our oddly-low BABIP as a team, we've hit close to .350 on balls in play, and have increased our seasonal rate by nearly 10 points. We also have the third-best walk rate in that span, and entered tonight with the most HRs.

So, the offense is coming around, and we're getting a bit more luck to boot.

Bottom of the 9th. Biggio walks (great discipline by this kid.), Smoak walks on 4 pitches. Next batter is Tellez who swings at the first two pitches and flies out. No plate discipline by Tellez. A rookie mistake. Pitcher just walked a batter with 4 straight pitches. Why even attempt a swing on the 1st pitch? Make the pitcher earn it ffs!

Anyone else a bit disappointed with Vladdy? I expecting a bit more from this guy. I know he's young but all that hype and talk about him being the next big thing has subsided for me. My expectations are not the same as they were when he first got here. Don't get me wrong I hope he develops into a nice player but right now it's hard not to say that you are a little disappointed.

Also Teoscar needs to go. He's been given several chances to prove himself this season. I think i've had enough of him. He's barely hitting above the mendoza line. Isn't there anyone else in AAA that can replace him?

This is what happens when you have no starting pitching. Imo it's an embarassment to have your bullpen relievers start a game and finish one.

In June, Sogard and Gurriel Jr. were hitting around 400 babip. Tellez and Hernandez 212 and 267. Hopefully, they can turn it around given their power potential are really good. If they keep hitting the same we’ll need to write them off as quad-A players.

It's certainly encouraging that our core of young hitters are starting to come into their own. If Bichette also pans out (which seems likely) and the FO can turn our remaining vets into pitching prospects, we might actually be in a good position in 2-3 years.

Stroman, Giles, Sogard and Galvis should attract some interest.

You mean King Kawhi graced the Rogers centre with his presence, and since then his greatness has effected everyone. 8-)

The Biggio effect? Pick something you can hit hard, swing at more strikes, easier to hit line drives when you're not swinging at borderline pitches in hitters counts.

Finally Montoyo puts Teoscar at the bottom of the lineup where he deserves to be.

Danny Jansen getting hitting results like Stephen Strasburg for three months and then transforming into Mike Trout is weird even by the standards of weird in baseball. Just one day he woke up and said oh hey I might get better results if my hard-hit balls were in the air and suddenly he's Bat God, Destroyer of Everything.

#KawhiWatch is stressing me out too much to peacefully enjoy the jays.
