If I can punt Travis, drury , tempera and maile and use their savings , I now go:

Moose 2/20
Thames 1/3
Tsutsugo 1/3

Keuchel 3/39
Pineda 2/22
Teheran 2/18

That said, I think the players I just listed all sign for at least 10pct higher than this AAV

Sign one core piece like Odorizzi

Dumpster dive for decent vets on 1 or 2 year value deals.

Try and trade for a long term cf option cause I don’t see how else we’re going to find one.

Basically add one building block to the rotation and find some competent veterans to support our young core.

Aim for 500

Save your bullets for next offseason and hopefully add two impactful players that put us over the top.

Odorizzi 3 / 57
Frazier 1 / 5 - his versatility lines up well with our team
Avasail Garcia 2 / 12 - consistent professional middle of the order at bats for cheap
Sogard 2 / 8 - he’s not drury
Fire drury.
6 million to dumpster dive for bullpen and depth starters

Not looking for a home run here, just a solid double.

Bo
Biggio
Gurriel
Vlad
Avasail
Grichuk
Frazier
Tellez/Hernandez
Jansen

Edit: didn’t realize odorizzi was qualifying offer worthy. Forget that noise! Let’s go with keuchel 3 and 45, alex woods 2 and 16. Leaves a robust 2 million for the pen.

my new plan: dumpster dive for value!

sign gausman and martin perez and stick em in the pen.

Sign treinen, jimmy nelson, lindblom and tajuan walker.

sign one of shaw or todd frazier to mentor vlad and play first.

Sign cesar hernandez and have him back up every position -- probably a good character guy too.

Sign avasail garcia, cause hes young, cheap, undervalued and if you give him a long term home, he may flourish. And frankly, this team needs A veteran middle of the order bat that can execute and put the ball in play consistently.

Starting rotation: Treinen, anderson, lindblom and two out of walker, nelson, shumaker, wags, thornton, zeuch etc..... lots of room for the young pitchers to push through and earn starts and tonnes of young vets with significant upside at a low cost.

overspend on one of bauer or paxton the next offseason.

Edit: treinen =‘s wade miley in my head apparently.

And what happens if Paxton and Bauer re-sign before they reach FA?
It’s only a year early sign a top SP now instead of waiting IMO.

Friends, remember that this year's dumpster diving is unlike previous years. 56 players were non-tendered this offseason. That's more than any other offseason in the history of the sport. And since next year will be another development year and we're not finna compete in any real way (nor should we), it's a good time to give opportunities to some of the 56 players who've just been cut.

I think we land (overpay) for a Ryu or Keuchal which I'm actually fine with.

We go in the season with a

Ryu or Keuchal
Roark
Anderson

Those as the 3 and pencil in Pearson after the so many games. Maybe Kay as the 5th.

Use Thornton and new Japanese guy in the pen and shop Reese Maguire and waguespack or borucki for a young controllable but already good OF'er.

Sign Edwin as the platoon DH/1st base with Rowdy.

Its never going to happen but build a package for lindor starting with our 2nd basemen. Move Bo to 2nd and get lindor at short.

I’d take those FA signings. Clearly need a TORP. I think Atkins wants a full year of ab for fisher and teo though so I don’t see an of. For the love of god one of the 2 break out. Would go a long way

I’m also ok giving a young sp a look in the 5 hole till Pearson arrives. Maybe even a piggy back situation with Thornton and Kay
