This too. Guilermo Martinez ain't it, chief.

The only thing I'm happy about is Teoscar has taken some steps but I don't know who to attribute that to. Perhaps just go with Dante Bichette for the time being.

Why is our best hitter this season, Teoscar Hernandez, batting 8 in the lineup? Is this guy trying to lose games on purpose? Maybe he forgets it was not last year.

Montoyo is bad.

Im glad he made it clear he's not a championship caliber manager this early in the process tho.

Yea that's beyond stupid reasoning regarding Teoscar.

I don't know whether to be upset at Montoyo for being so bad, or at Atkins for actually hiring him. That quote is about as tone deaf to baseball as you can get.

I tend to give him more rope on the bullpen stuff because our 'pen is nothing but question marks, but batting Teoscar eighth is indefensible.

Even if you assume there's merit to his suggestion (there isn't, really) then you'd have him hit ninth, not eighth.

Ah, so the explanation was just that the manager is an idiot.

Yeah, figured that.

If you want a Hernandez to hit ahead of Biggio, put him in the lineup ahead of Biggio. None of this brain genius ****.

It's a problem right now. Still pretty relaxed about it, because "hits the ball really hard/doesn't strike out a tonne/takes a good number of walks" is still a pretty enviable base to build from.

Do we trust Guillermo Martinez to "mess with" the swing of the erstwhile #1 prospect in baseball? Or do we let the kid calibrate things on his own? Not sure where the greater risk lies.

Look guys these managers are puppets.

You have these sabrametricians empowered by the owners then the front office. The number crunchers are the guys setting the lineups.

That makes zero sense. No sabermetrician would have your most productive hitter eighth.

He is being sarcastic and referring to arguments from last year I guess.

I’m not. Maybe other guys had better numbers vs that pitcher. Managers don’t have as much control as you guys think.

Reordering lineups based on small datasets of player vs player matchups is the very opposite of sabermetrics.
