Tony is probably my favourite SS of all-time, and a quintessential Blue Jay. For whatever reason, he always seemed to play better in a Blue Jays uniform. He was a joy to watch in the field and at the plate. I'm so happy he got a Championship with the Jays, and that he retired as a Blue Jay. He will be remembered fondly.

Fernandez had sick flips at ss turning double plays. The way he'd throw sidearm and flick it effortlessly was something else.

Fernandez is a major reason - perhaps the primary reason - Dominicans love the Blue Jay organization and want to play here. So many of the young Dominican ball players looked up to Tony Fernandez when they were growing up.

My favourite Jay from way back when. Loved how he played SS, where he was revolutionary in his style, and loved his batting stance and style. A true original. RIP

My favourite Jay. I remember when I was a kid, my best friend would be Alomar, I would be Tony and we'd play ghost runner baseball.

I can still mimic the entire batting stance and pitching motion of every single roster player of the 92 and 93 championship teams. All the way down to Mike Maksudian.

To be fair, it's not much of a claim: I'm absolutely certain that everyone that was there and old enough at the time, still can. Never has an entire team captured the entire imagination of a city for that long. Not even the 2019 Raptors.
