If you could implement a rule, just to see what happens

Has there ever been thought of having an 8 man batting order? Just remove the DH/P from the batting order?

You won't get the "power" or half day of rest from the DH.
You won't get the "automatic" out from the Pitcher.

What you will get a your first 3 batters getting 4 at bat's every game.

Also, if your team is on offence, you can use the pitcher that is in the game as a pinch hitter/runner, but they cannot return to the mound for the rest of the game.
They must either stay in the game at another position or be subbed out of the game.

If a defensive player makes a catch on a ball that subsequently takes them out of the field of play (on the catch) an out is not recorded. For example if a player makes a home run saving grab but then topples into the crowd with the ball in his glove. Said play would be deemed a home run. The defensive player must remain inside the ballpark, their feet must make contact with the field prior to losing control of their position in bleachers or anywhere else deemed out of play.

No bench warning can be made to a team that has not hit or (appearing to) throw at a batter. Penalizing a team that has not done anything wrong from throwing inside is pretty stupid.

Minor and super unadventurous, but those are mine.

No force out anywhere, you ALWAYS have to tag someone.

Higher scores, but just plain madness.

This was always my understanding growing up. Not sure when/if it changed. But it's been bugging me for a long time.

Here's my "new" rule:
Intentional walk requires the pitcher to throw 4 balls to the catcher who may call for them outside the strike zone. :rocking:

You know, integrity,, where every throw/play counts. Nothing is automatic.

also - JUST AN IDEA
Not sure I'm actually an advocate, considering I have some libertarian leanings,,, but how about NO SHIFT. 2 infielders must be on either side of the bag when the pitch it thrown..... would help hitters hit to their strength,, but neutralize countermeasures... :confused:

This is largely how it works in cricket. You don't have to be in contact with the pitch within the boundary, but you can't be in contact with the boundary or touch the ground beyond such. It's more entertaining that way:

I guess you can make an out beyond the field of play?

When Lowry jumps out of bounds ands catches the ball in the air, he can land out of bounds and the Raptors retain possession? No way. jmvho.

To take it to the extreme,,,, because Teoscar sucks on defence in LF anyway, the Jays might want to place him in the 5th row beyond the fence with a huge glove. If he catches the homer, is it an out?

Gloves are limited to 13 inches. Changed in early 90's to 12 and up to 13 in 2016(?) or something I think.
