Teoscar Hernandez, one of the best players in baseball this season, getting an off day in a 60 day season. Cool.

I think you do need to give guys days off. It may be a 60 game season, but there are very few off days. Especially with several games already being postponed.

Why is Montoyo taking out a guy who specializes in strikeouts, with a runner on third, less than two out?

For some reason Montoyo feels compelled to make awful managerial decisions to blow leads every 6th inning.

Yamaguchi's been quite good after that horrible start to the year.

I don't disagree Montoya is generally idiotic though.

Maybe Teoscar should have played the entire game instead of from the 7th inning off. Montoyo makes things very difficult.

Why did he pinch hit Teoscar but then let one of the worst hitters in the league hit? What was the point of that?

At least Yamaguchi has come around.

Does seem like the excuse rendered (that Yamaguchi was struggling to adjust to the differently-sized ball, especially when throwing the splitter) might've been valid. Having the splitter as an effective part of his repertoire makes all the difference.

That was unfortunate.

Shun probably shouldn't be pitching in tied games in the 8th inning no matter how well he's going.

Maybe tomorrow I'll tune in and we'll actually be playing our best players in the actual game.

After his first two appearances, he's every bit the statistical equal of the other guys we've been using in the back of the 'pen (with the exception of Romano, who is hurt). Not sure why he isn't an 8th inning option in a season where you're going to run through a bunch of 8th inning options.

We payed the Mariners for Vogelbach only to play him for one game?

I think Montoyo is still in "give everyone a turn" mode from last season. It's fine in a rebuilding season, but when you're down to the last 27 games of the season and you're holding on to the last playoff spot, it's not the best time to give your 4th outfielder playing time in place of your hottest hitter on the season.

I don't even want to touch Villar batting 3rd. Seems like if I got the explanation for that it would just irritate me more than it already does.

Maybe missing the playoffs would be better if that's the only thing that's going to get rid of this guy. I'd almost rather lose without him than win with him. Sports are aggravating enough without having to deal with Montoyo.
