He's inept.
Yeah I came on just to say I don't see how that isn't a pinch hit for Vladdy...

Right-handed slider-dominant pitcher on the mound? I'm not actually certain that's the wrong move on paper. Counter-argument is that maybe Vlad's more likely to work a walk, I guess.
**** your asterisk.

Vlad is obviously a far better hitter than Fisher (who has a career 74wRC+ and has never hit whatsoever in the majors). Far more likely to make contact and far more likely to work a walk. There's no real defense for using a struggling Fisher in that spot.
He's honestly the worst manager I've ever seen in baseball. This is basic stuff he's getting wrong on a daily basis.

Regardless of the outcome, the fact that Vlad came up to pinch hit the inning after they left the bases loaded with Fisher makes the decision even more stunning.

Joe Siddal saying he'd even have rather seen Panik who was also on the bench and bats left.

Panik is trash too, but he's way more likely to make contact at least.
Vlad is probably your 3rd best hitter on the team, he has to hit in that spot if available (which he clearly was).

I can't believe he let Fisher bat there. He may have lost us another one with that decision. How many is that now? Must be 5-6.

Yea huge screw up by Montoyo there. Fisher needed to be lifted in that situation.

I saw the interview and I don't even think Charlie believed what he was saying. Felt very Casey-esque.

I think Montoyo was brought in as a tank commander who would see us through the rest of the rebuild and help get our prospects acclimated to the majors. With the team in a playoff race, it definitely feels like he's in over his head.
You can tell it's not just us fans. Even Buck, Dan, Joe often sound flabbergasted at some of his decisions.

I'm not liking some of his moves, but this is basically the roster of a .500 team that has benefited from some extraordinary luck. The bottom third of the order is terrible, and when you have Bichette out, it only amplifies the situation - there is no momentum generated offensively most nights, and the team is utterly dependent on the home run to win games. They have a left hand hitting catcher who isn't hitting, can't throw out runners, and when he tries throws wide. If not for this run at a one round playoff appearance, we might be trying Alejandro Kirk by now.

When healthy, bottom third is Gurriel, Shaw, Jansen. That isn't a bad bottom third.

Always nice to bench Cavan Biggio with three weeks left in the season in a playoff race.
The idiot seriously doesn't even try to win these games.

Wouldn’t be a 2020 Jays game without somebody getting thrown out on the bases.
