Speaking of Roark, he's looked pretty good this spring too. Changed up his pitching mechanics so his stuff looks a bit better than last year. I think he'll be an ok number 4-5 innings eater type.

Jay’s fans have a sample size of 47 innings were he was terrible but he had pitched 1100 decent MLB innings before he got here. I will be surprised if he’s not better and possibly much better than last season.

Nurse is below average at best.
Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Roark was never a tremendously hard thrower, but he'll likely need to regain what he has lost on his FB to be somewhat effective. His velo was off last year, and he has come into camp throwing softer than ever. Not uncommon for players to pick up velo over the course of the spring, and he'll need to; 89 isn't likely to get it done.

My operating theory with him is that he's going to be DFA'd before June. The Jays have eaten far bigger contracts, and its hard to imagine that some young pitcher can't fill his spot. Even someone like Hatch or TJ Zeuch, or a opener/reliever combo as a placeholder for Manoah/Woods Richardson. Zeuch was throwing 94-95 sinkers for three innings today and usually was in or around the zone; guys like that more sense than sending Roark out to give the opponent a healthy lead in the first three innings. And all of these options are on entry salaries, so DFAs don't really impact the budget.

Not unlikely. I could also see a Kendrys Morales-style deal, where we eat 80% of his salary and get back some piddly asset from a team that has more use for a back-end workhorse reclamation project than we do.

It's still an exceedingly small sample, but it is worth noting that Vlad's average launch angle has increased markedly. It's at 17.7 degrees on 17 balls in play, versus 5 degrees last season.

Given that his tendency to chop the ball into the ground was basically the one thing holding him back, that's probably the number that merits the most attention.

Vladdy looking great so far! Excited to get the season going. Been a while since I was excited about a Blue Jays season. Just a bit nervous about our starting rotation. Hopefully the offense will be there to offset the poor pitching at times this season.

I'm not so optimistic. Yesterday's game was a good example. He was solid one time through the lineup, and in the fourth inning he pretty well imploded. He might be okay as an opener, but making it through 4-5 innings while keeping the team in the game is a bit of a stretch for me.

Let's hope Hatch's elbow and forearm isn't serious, but that looked and sounded pretty bad. I was hoping to see him in the starting rotation. If we are going to make some noise in our division and make the playoffs this season we need another top starter. Roark as our #3 starter scares me. Let's hope for the best!

Do we have something with Josh Palacios? I don't see him on any prospect lists, but the kid has been tearing it up.

The amount of games that have not been televised is boggling my mind. I have wanted to see a Spring Training game like 8 times and not been able to. One time I found a no sound field cam...
