They did a split amongst group of players, so not everyone gets it at once, and gets potential side effects at once. It's why Gurriel got it, but he didn't, and Gurriell got covid "side effects" or symptoms, and had to back out of game.

They probably broke it up by groups, Outfielders, Infielders, Starting pitching, and Relivers, and broke it up further in A group and B Group in each grouping. So if your caught in a bind, you still have "healthy" bodies if there is adverse effects, if you just did everyone and have adverse effects, then you end up marlins last year where they can't field a team

Judge looked like he just tossed that ball. I bet he can throw it 400+ feet with ease.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I did not expect Merryweather to be replaced to start the inning

Four-run lead, 5-9 hitters due up, two of whom are left-handed. Makes sense to me; you want Merryweather in there for high-leverage PAs, and after he got out of the 8th and the Jays added a run, it ceased to be particularly high-leverage. He misses out on a save, but saves are silly (see: Tommy Milone getting a save in a 14-run win).

Yeah, but doesn't it just burn an extra arm? He already warmed up and threw.

Like, it he wasn't already in the game, absolutely Mayza is the right call. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding the activity cycle of relievers, honestly.

No matter though, three up three down.

I'd agree for most relievers, but it's pretty clear that we're going to baby Merryweather a bit given his injury history. In only throwing two pitches here, there's a decent chance we see him tomorrow if the situation presents. If he had thrown 15 or something to see out the game, I'd be very surprised if he was available.

Well, it was a good week and a half with Merryweather healthy. Starting to run out of good RPs now.

It will be interesting to see how the Jays sort out the roster when Springer and Teoscar are back. Davis and Panik have minimum utility at present, sending out Espinal and Palacios, the more well-rounded (and younger) players seems sub-optimal. The argument for Panik is that he is a left-handed bat, but so is Palacios. It would make sense when the starters are back to send out Davis and DFA Panik, but that's just me, I suppose. There also is the issue of how much the Jays need Rowdy if he doesn't work things out, especially with his tendency to K on high fastballs. The word will get around MLB fast that that's how you pitch him until he forces opposing pitchers to rethink that.

watched some of the Ryu's strikeouts lol the ump has a loose definition of the strike zone.

A few times this season I have held my breathe when I have seen him stretch but that was the biggest one! Fair play to him but I really worry about those groins if he keeps it up!

More good news....

- Ross Stripling scratched from today's start with right forearm tightness; TJ Zeuch starts instead

- Julian Merryweather to 10-day IL with left oblique strain
