Taking two of these three would be very nice.

So the FO just told us that the cavalry is going to amount to a reliever who has had one major league appearance.
Just end the season now.

Were you expecting that they'd swing an April trade for a high-end reliever or something? He's just another depth arm, because Hatch going on the 60-day cleared a roster spot and allowed us to such.

Springer might be back this weekend. Seems a little more important.

I don't know. I was expecting a FO to realize they need more than they think they do because these kinds of situations are not uncommon. If we had Walker right now we would probably have a much better record.

They got more pitchers than they thought they'd need. We had what, 8 potential SPs that we signed or traded for? A passel of RPs?
We just got hit harder than was reasonable, and all at once.

He has also walked 11 batters in 14 innings, including 6 in 3.2 IP in his last start. I think we're a long way from declaring Walker to be the missing piece that got away.

Great, we finally get rid of Ratul and we already have his replacement. I guess you were expecting Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw to magically appear?
Stop watching. Stop following. All your problems and our problems get solved.

I probably will along with a lot of other people if they keep playing this way. They should be good enough to have a shot at winning the A.L. East but it's going to be another disappointing 4th place finish.

He is also a starting pitcher. Currently I count only 3 of those on our team. Didn't have to be walker, just a guy who can take the mound once a turn.

I was among those that wanted us to spend more on starting pitching. But, if one assumes that this season isn't the be-all, end-all, I can see why they didn't dive into the FA SP market, because most of them have been somewhere between bad and dead. Here's the 2021 FA starter list:
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021-mlb-free-agent-tracker/sort_column-aav__sort_direction-0__positions-9Morton looks good as per, but most of the others (including the ones I wanted us to target) have been Roarkian.

Exactly! I can't remember the last season the Blue Jays had 5 real starting pitchers on their roster.

Fair enough. I maintain that Walker is a significantly better pitcher than Roark. We can agree to disagree on that if you insist.

Roark was already under contract for this year (and should be cut, sure) and wouldn’t have taken 2 years plus a player option to keep.
We’re talking about probably what, 4-5 starts of sub par pitchers to be replaced by Walker before guys start getting healthy again? And Walker has only had one good start this year anyway.
