Terrible at his job

As bad as he is... he probably hasn't earned a mid season firing. He would have to lose the clubhouse and be mired in a long losing streak IMO. However, even with us picking up his option for next year to avoid him being a lame duck manager, I think the team was evaluating him this year before committing beyond his option year. To this point I would imagine he is failing his criteria to remain the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays beyond 2022 or even into 2022 at this point.

Now this doesn't mean that Shatkins can't sit him down and ask him to justify the idiocy he calls managing ball games and warn him to reign in the stupidity.

His post games by themselves show he is way over his head beyond being a bench coach.

Whom else was on the list on of potential hires, when we decided on Montoyo?

If the Jays fall 10 games below 500 at some point, then there's a chance Montoya is fired. But I think the more realistic scenario (fingers crossed) is the Jays fire him in the off-season and hire a real manager.
