Fantastic job there by Matz. Number 8 and 9 get on - and he neutralizes the top of the order.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

Pretty sure we are watching Bichette’s last 3 months of his career as a shortstop in MLB.

Trading a 5 WAR controllable young player seems like a bad idea. Moving him to 2nd base seems like a better one.

He's 23, and one of the most valuable shortstops in the league in spite of the errors. Trading him would be absolutely insane.

**** your asterisk.

Man, I can see why the Mets gave up on Matz. Despite having decent stuff, he gives up hard contact. And it always feels like he gets flustered and starts missing his location as soon as he gets people on base.

Yeah I hate watching him. He visibly loses his **** whenever anything remotely bad happens and it causes him to get even worse. Total headcase. I’d imagine if the Jays trade for a starter in a few weeks, he’d be the guy getting a hook from the rotation.

What even is Thorntons role on an MLB team?
This dude is trash.

Should have probably happened before tonight. It probably will now.

Does Thornton have options?
Also why isCharlie burning our bullpen, we are already down 6, not likely coming back, just let Thornton eat up innings even if he gets killed.

He's been far better this year than last (adequate versus alarming), but yeah...I wouldn't be in a rush to try to re-sign him.
You're also totally correct about pitching with runners on: he's almost 200 points of OPS worse with guys on.

**** your asterisk.

Don’t really understand the rationale behind pulling Thornton at all. He just ended the game and now we have to use a full bullpen of pitchers in a loss instead of having him go multiple innings?

And now another unnecessary change.
